View Full Details of Heath Lodge Care HomeMy father's dementia and occasional falls were making his ability to stay at home tremendously concerning. He moved into Heath Lodge and it was immediately obvious that this was the best place for him. The staff have been brilliantly understanding right from the initial meeting through to the present. My father has found it hard to settle but this is by no means a reflection on the staff. His dementia does not allow him to recall any of the reasons for him being there as his short term memory is horrendous. However the continual reassurance and care that he receives from the staff along with strategies from the Manager have helped ease him into his new surroundings. Furthermore the constant awareness of health issues as they arise has also given me total peace of mind. They are very attuned to the needs of residents with the very many forms that dementia presents and the interaction is always suited to that individual residents needs. Very happy with what they do for us, thank you all.
I worked for the Council in quality monitoring of care homes for older people. I have worked with numerous care homes to improve their quality and safety of their services. Heath Lodge is purpose built and the facilities are excellent, the rooms are furnished to a high standard as are the dining and lounge areas. Everywhere is always spotlessly clean and very well maintained. All staff are professional friendly and very approachable. You always get a warm welcome when visiting, I visit most days, and at different times. I always feel at home and I feel I'm visiting my aunt at home not in a home. The quality and safety of care my aunt receives is excellent, all her needs are met, she is treated with dignity and respect, she is happy and content. I cannot praise the care staff enough. I have observed wonderful interactions between residents and staff not just occasionally but continually. Staff put residents at the heart of what they do. This is one of the best care homes I have visited.
Overall Heath Lodge Care Home provides a comfortable home with lots of interesting facilities which I feel would be used more if offers of help to attend for those less mobile (2 wheelchair users were left at the end of an activity for approximately 45 minutes before being picked up). Morning coffee and afternoon tea/coffee often late and sometimes missed. Care varies, some rough and unfriendly. Food/meals delivered to rooms cold and not edible.
I have been extremely impressed with the care that the staff are providing for my father-in-law who has late stage dementia. Due to his dementia, it has taken a while for him to settle in and understand where he is and why he is there. All staff have been unfailingly kind and helpful towards my father-in-law and also to my husband and I in making the transition from home to Heath Lodge Care Home. They have been proactive in making suggestions to help him settle in as well as about his various health needs. It is a huge relief to know that he is safe and so well cared for.
My experience at Heath lodge Care Home was excellent. The team where so supportive to me when my father was unwell and spent some time at Heath Lodge. Nothing was too much trouble and my father was very happy there and recovered extremely well and is now at home. I cannot rate the care home higher. I am so grateful for all they did.
We have been hugely impressed with the accommodation and particularly the kind and caring staff. From June onwards the support and care offered has been exceptional- such a weight off our shoulders knowing Mum is in such good hands.
My mother has been extremely well cared for by staff who showed kindness in all their interactions with her. My mother grew fond of many staff members. I felt supported by them. The management has been open to suggestions and has offered regular reviews of her care plan as her needs changed. In addition, they offered a welcome to visiting family and communicated with us when appropriate. They were also caring and in touch with health professionals when necessary. Overall excellent.
My husband was in the home for a short while, he was well supported by the caring staff. I joined him for lunch and the lunch served was wonderful and very tasty. This is more like a 5-star hotel and the management and staff went above and beyond to make my husband feel comfortable.
My husband stayed here for two weeks respite. Very pleased with the care he received and the staff were always friendly and approachable. He was made to feel at home and especially enjoyed the activities and cinema.
Excellent overall. My uncle looks stronger and healthier and because of the sensitive way Heath Lodge can be structured, has enjoyed meeting new people and making friendships. Senior managers always respond. Our only area of improvement is that supper is served an hour too early, probably for shift patterns.
I have been really happy with the care my parents have here. Since my parents moved to Heath Lodge in the summer of 2023, my reflection is that the quality of the carers is paramount. They are the most important element. in the autumn this was really good. It is still good because some the those carers are still there, retaining excellent staff should be a priority. I do think the food could be better, it is nutritious but overlooked. I have noticed my father needs an exercise program to keep fit, losing muscle mass because of a lack of activities and stimulation.
It was a paramedic on a call-out who mentioned Heath Lodge to me. My Mum had done incredibly well living in her own home with support to the age of 100, she was however now in need of more help. Searching for a suitable home is not without its stresses, so consequently this recommendation from the visiting medic spoke volumes. On contacting Heath Lodge their response was positive, supportive and very reassuring. It is a lovely modern home with spacious areas, easily accessible facilities and comfortable en-suite bedrooms. It was also a welcome surprise to find a care home designed around both the residents and their families, which feels, and is inclusive. Most important of all it is staffed by a very kind and caring team of professionals who go above and beyond, nothing was ever too much trouble, and I shall be forever grateful that Mum was able to end her days being cared for in such a lovely safe environment.
4/52 respite care following a period of hospital admission for investigation. The staff are very nice and caring and one is well looked after. Uniforms for nursing staff vary in blue - more colour for senior staff.
After a serious car accident, my parents reluctantly agreed to a two-week stay at Heath Lodge to help with their recuperation. We were extremely grateful to the manager and the team for admitting them at such short notice and have been delighted with the care and support they received. Despite their reservations as young-at-heart 80-somethings, my parents settled in extremely quickly and have had a wonderful stay. The facility is modern, light, quiet and warm. The rooms are well-equipped and comfortable. My parents love the food and have found the staff cheerful, friendly and incredibly hard-working. Nothing is too much trouble and that goes for visitors too. It is no small way due to Heath Lodge that my parents are recovering well and will soon be back home, we can't thank the team enough.
My wife feels she is in a secure environment. Her needs are being met and her opinions are listened to. Overall a good experience with excellent carers. The ability to entertain family and friends to meals is particularly appreciated.
The care my relative received around her end-of-life period was exemplary. I am a nurse by profession and a retired CQC inspector and specialist professional clinical advisor and would rate the home as outstanding in the areas I observed.
A wonderful care home. Mum went into Heath Lodge in December 2023. When we were looking for a care home for Mum, we were very impressed with the support we got from the manager, she came out to Mum's to see what her needs were and that the home could meet them. She supported us every step of the way in getting Mum a place in the home and is still as supportive now. The staff are very friendly welcoming and supportive, nothing is too much trouble. The resident's care and well-being is always at the forefront in everything they do. All of the staff do an amazing job, it takes special people to do their job, it's hard work but they always have smiles on their faces. Each and every member of staff I have met has been amazing. Thank you all for everything you are doing for Mum.
The care home is like a small hotel, private yet accessible. Staff extra helpful and I feel confident that my husband is well cared for. Great help for me. I've looked after him 24/7 for 5 years. Thank you.
Very pleasant building with friendly staff and excellent facilities. Food and drink were exceptional. My husband was in respite care for 2 weeks and I would recommend this nursing home to anyone.
My dad lived at Heath Lodge from the time it opened in February 2023 to August when his needs became too severe for the home to manage and following hospitalisation he was discharged to a nursing home which could meet his needs. The staff at Heath Lodge did their very best for him, really going above and beyond what was expected in a residential care setting. Had it not been for their efforts my dad would have needed to leave sooner owing to the level of his physical and medical need. The community nursing team is very thinly stretched and did not always respond in a timely fashion to requests for help. This was beyond the control of Heath Lodge staff but did contribute to the eventual decision to move my dad to a setting with on-site nursing.
