View Full Details of Holly Oak Care CentreMy Dad received excellent care at Holly Oak Care Centre. The quality of the building, rooms and food were all very good but what stuck out most was the quality of the care. Everyone who I met there was very caring and kind, helping my dad feel comfortable there. They treated my dad and also my mum who visited every day like part of their family. The home provide lots of options for group activities, which my dad enjoyed. They also provide an app which lets any member of the family submit photos with comments, which were printed out as a newsletter for my dad each fortnight. The staff were very supportive through the period where my dad was receiving end of life care, with staff going above and beyond with their compassion and thoughtfulness. I would 100% recommend the care home.
All the staff make me feel welcome whenever I visit. They are happy to answer any questions and keep me well informed. The care at all levels is excellent. Everywhere is clean and tidy. Food looks appetising and plentiful. Activities are wide-ranging and appropriate. Indoor facilities are excellent. However, the care home lacks a secure garden planted with shrubs and flowers for residents to access and relax in during good weather. Many residents would appreciate daily periods of relaxation outside in a beautiful setting that is safe and secure, and staff would also benefit from time outside.
Mum has been at Holly Oak since May having transferred from residential care. She has settled in so well and we have noticed an improvement in her quality of life. The staff are plentiful so nothing is too much trouble and they are passionate about what they do. They are also very friendly and professional and can meet Mum's needs fully. The food is delicious and specific to Mum's needs, also her room is very homely and peaceful. It is so reassuring to have the benefit of in-house nurses to meet her needs. There is an extensive programme of activities both in the lounges and also one-to-one if required. It is lovely for Mum to have her hair washed and styled regularly. Family are welcomed in and offered a hot drink when they visit. Fabulous!
Our loved one has been a resident at Holly Oak for approx. 3 months. What sets Holly Oak apart from the other care homes in the local area is that it specialises solely in dementia care. This is very important as, in comparison to some other care homes we've had experience of, considerations around the needs of those with dementia are at the forefront, from the very beginning. The staff demonstrate good experience, knowledge, and, particularly importantly, the ability to adapt to the ever-changing needs of people who have dementia. The staff are engaging and genuinely interested in the personalities and well-being of each resident. The environment is bright, modern, and both functional and comfortable. We have been impressed with the frequency of the activities for residents, which our family member hugely benefits from in terms of their well-being. Management are really approachable and generous of their time. The food on offer is lovely and suits our loved one's tastes and needs well.
Having Mum in the care home means that she is looked after 24/7. All the management and staff, from nurses, carers, entertainment, cleaners and kitchen staff are always there to help. We, as a family, are lucky to have found such a lovely care home for our Mum.
The commitment shown by all the staff at Holly Oak is second to none, all the residents are referred to as family and treated as such. The carers and nursing staff we meet regularly are exceptional, always approachable and happy, they genuinely feel it's a privilege to be entrusted to look after our mum and we know she is happy. Holly Oak is ahead of its time in both its work ethic and its achievements and should be used as an example to others. It is a really rare find within this establishment and we feel so fortunate we found Holly Oak for our mum.
I am the relative of a resident who has only been at Holly Oak for a few weeks, following the sudden closure of her old home. My experience to date, even over a very short time, has been extremely positive. The staff were very helpful in offering a room in the home and facilitated the move from the old home to Holly Oak. Since moving in, I have been struck by the friendliness of everyone, and it is clear that my mother is being very well looked after. Her room is comfortable, with enough of her own furniture, pictures and nick-nacks to make it feel like home. I cannot thank the staff enough for their care, their helpfulness and their friendliness.
My grandfather was a resident at Holly Oak for about 10 months until he finally passed away recently. His dementia gradually worsened during his time there, which eventually led to his passing. I cannot express in words our admiration for Holly Oak and all who work there. The staff are just so lovely and caring and were so supportive to Grandad and all the members of our family. Nothing is too much trouble. The activities are plentiful and lively. Grandad enjoyed music and singing and even in his latter months he enjoyed joining in with the singing. The food is just amazing and tempting for people with poor appetites. The tearoom is amazing: we had Christmas lunch there and also a cream tea. I think it would be difficult to find another care home that comes close to Holly Oak and we would have no hesitation in giving it our strong recommendation.
On my visit, the resident I had come to see seemed happy and well looked after. I was allowed to take my dog in which made her so happy. Lunch was served whilst I was there but was not something she liked so ate very little of it. I know it is difficult with dementia to sometimes get an honest answer so don’t know whether she had a choice of menu or not. She was unaware she had a television or telephone in her room but said she didn’t want to use them anyway.
My sister-in-law has been a resident for nearly 3 months. Communication from the staff on all aspects of her care and well-being has been excellent. I have been included in discussions on her care. This has been particularly appreciated as we are currently still living abroad so the fact that she is being so well looked after is reassuring as it was difficult to hand over responsibility after 12 years.
My mum has only been there a few months, but the level of care, patience and understanding is exceptional.
After a difficult time in a previous care home, we were given the opportunity to move Mum into Holly Oak Care Centre. The amazing staff have been a great help settling her in and making sure she has the care and support that she needs. The facilities are excellent with plenty of activities to keep her interest.
As I visit my wife virtually every day, I have seen the excellent care she receives first-hand. The facilities are very good, modern and room and shared areas are always clean and fresh. More importantly, the staff at all levels are very caring as well as very competent and well-trained and motivated. Holly Oak is a well-run, safe and caring home for my wife, who is happy and settled.
Simply the best.
Holly Oak Care Centre is simply outstanding. My mum settled in immediately and thoroughly enjoys the daily activities (especially the music sessions), plus the trips out in the minibus. Meals provided at Holly Oak are nutritious and appetising. Rooms are stylishly furnished and always spotlessly clean and tidy. The Care Team are incredible. Their compassion is second to none. It is a great comfort that I know my mum is being well cared for and that her health and wellbeing is continuously monitored. The staff are friendly, welcoming and supportive when I visit and they always find time to have a chat, usually over a cup of tea. I cannot recommend Holly Oak Care Centre highly enough.
Exceptional care home, great staff and facilities.
We have found that the home is of high standards, and the care given to my mother is excellent. The decision to move mum into a home was a very hard one to take and It's reassuring to know that mum is in safe hands.
When visiting my wife, I am always greeted and made welcome by happy, caring staff, who are always willing to give assistance. When I moved my wife into the care of Holly Oak, I wished for her to settle in and become part of the group, which has been made possible by the nature and the inclusivity of the staff. The facilities and scope of activities are there to be embraced by all. I would highly recommend this Care facility to others in need.
We moved my father and mother-in-law into Holly Oak Care Centre at the end of January after a very careful selection process, a lot of thought, and no little concern about how they would adapt having been cared for in their own home for over two years. Thankfully, that careful selection meant that our worries were unfounded. The amazing team of carers made them feel very welcome from the moment they arrived, and their ongoing care, professionalism and compassion have helped both of them settle in very quickly. My mother-in-law thinks she's in some kind of posh hotel because of all the people in the common rooms and the attentive staff (which is no bad thing) and my father-in-law enjoys the food (his last remaining pleasure) and can take a nap whenever he needs. The common rooms are smartly furnished and welcoming (the Orangery especially) and the individual rooms are modern and stylish, but it is the staff who make Holly Oak what it is - their care and compassion stand out.
Very supportive people even during times of need and such good care staff. Nan has truly settled in and the best decision was made to move her to where the support is so fantastic. The food is amazing and the activities are daily.
