View Full Details of Ivy CourtSuch a lovely bright building with gorgeous rooms and facilities. So many opportunities for activities and even outings. Fantastic that there are regular visits from a hairdresser, chiropodist and optician. Best of all though, the carers are so lovely, kind and cheerful. Nothing is too much trouble and everything is done cheerfully even after a hard tiring day. The manager and deputy manager welcome conversations and are always happy to listen and do whatever they can to help.
My dad moved into Ivy Court in January 2024 after a lengthy stay in hospital and a number of falls. He had a ground floor room with doors out onto the garden. Everyone has gone over and above to ensure he was comfortable and looked after. He really enjoyed the food and joined in with all the activities and had trips out to garden centres and museums and shows at Cast over the last year and a trip to Whitby and an early Christmas dinner. The activities team do a great job at keeping everyone entertained. My dad maintained his independence and I know he enjoyed his time there. Sadly my dad past away on the 14th December. We have some lovely photos from last year and know he did a lot more than he would have if he had been at home. Thank you Ivy Court. You are all amazing. Keep up the good work.
My auntie is a resident at Ivy Court and it has been a great move for her. She feels safe there. She is looked after. Meals prepared, warm room, always very clean. The bonus has been the additional care items. She loves the walks and outings she is taken on, for coffee and scones, and the entertainment they sometimes being in. The staff are friendly and chat to her and the Christmas Dinner was everything you would expect it to be - with crackers!
My father had been at Ivy Court since October. He was not settling in his wing and the staff kindly suggested moving him downstairs to see if he was any happier. I cannot believe the difference in him, he is smiling, content and happy. All staff are friendly, conscientious and very caring towards the residents. Rooms are first class, well decorated and kept clean and tidy. Food and drink is very good and both residents and visitors are welcomed very warmly and we are kept informed of my father's welfare. The home is well run by a lovely manager who is always happy to stop and chat although she has a very busy life! Care staff are nominated regularly for above and beyond and seem to be well thought of. We know that my father is looked after, well fed, safe and secure and that is all we could wish for.
We chose Ivy court Care Home Balby to accommodate mum. She went in 11/11/24 but unfortunately passed away on 14/11/24. The short stay she had she loved it. Staff were all fantastic and made it her home.
Always a warm welcome on reception. Care team leaders were exceptional, always there when needed and very kind and caring. All staff were excellent, cared very well for all my mum's needs. Bent over backwards to do all they could. My only criticism is that there are just not enough of them. They are spread too thinly. The only have one pair of hands! There needs to be more of them on each shift.
I find Ivy Court a very pleasant well-run care home, all the staff are very nice and approachable. All good.
My mum (who has Alzheimer's), has been at Ivy Court since 1st March, for respite, after being unable to return home, after being discharged from hospital. I have found the home to be a lovely clean, and spacious place. She has a lovely room, with a large wet room bathroom, and her own TV, which she enjoys (as mum spends a lot of time in her room - due to the fact that she is very unsteady on her feet. She has had a couple of falls whilst being here, which have been dealt with quickly and efficiently - and now has an alarmed pressure pad near her chair, safety sides on her bed, and is checked regularly. Mum seems happy and settled, loves the home-cooked style food, and everyone who looks after her. The manager at Ivy Court is relatively new and appears to be doing a fabulous job here. Right from the start she's been approachable, honest, friendly and a very genuine person. We have also found everyone working there, to be very friendly and welcoming.
My dad was admitted to Ivy Court on 18th March 2024. A few days later on visiting him, he mentioned to us that his top set of false teeth had gone missing! As soon as we heard this we mentioned it to the care home staff who were on duty at that time, who at first made it a bit of a joke! It was the same day that I requested a toilet seat riser be put on his toilet, so the maintenance man also witnessed this. His teeth have still not been found! My dad has since told us that obviously he is struggling to eat, and he has mentioned that sometimes when it comes to his breakfast, the porridge has run out, which he can eat, but then he has to try eating toast or cornflakes! My dad is already underweight, and we, the family, feel he is now not eating properly due to this problem. We have mentioned this a fair few times now, but are not sure what to do next. We are fairly pleased with his care overall, but it's quite early days on his progress, and we find the care staff kind and helpful.
The Deputy Manager was so rude, finger-pointing, voice louder than normal talking, and not an ounce of respect. I can go on and on its not right to be treated like this, a very cold person. It happened on Monday 20th February 2024.
Absolutely brilliant level of care! Friendly welcoming staff and a beautifully kept building always clean whenever I visit, my aunty is doing activities and outings and loves them. Thank you to all the staff that are involved we really appreciate all your hard work.
I have had concerns for some time having seen excrement in the corridors, and heard lots of shouting and noise. Residents have been threatened by others and recently during a phone call with my parent, I was told that she had been attacked, while 2 others had also been attacked, some had excrement whipped all over their beds, walls and rooms. The fact that these issues repeatedly crop up means that it is not dealt with and I fear for resident safety. I was told that one of the 'violent' residents had been given notice to leave. I don't know when that may take place - it may take months. I work abroad so it is difficult to visit my parent. I understand that management has been informed and so I hope it is being dealt with before someone is injured. Also, there are other violent/disruptive residents that need segregating.
On visiting my friend, I was so pleasantly surprised upon entering the home with firstly the decor, and the lovely welcome I got from the member of staff. The home has a welcoming feel and all the staff I met were very friendly. My friend had a large well-equipped room, with a large ensuite wetroom.
We are so grateful for the wonderful care and kindness shown to Mum. The staff respected her dignity and her fierce independence so that she ended her life in the way she would have wanted. It was reassuring, as we lived so far away, when she said 'I am happy here, don't worry about me, they can't do enough for me, get on with your lives'.
My mum's friend has recently just joined Ivy Court and this home is just fabulous, the staff really get stuck in and will help to do anything. The new manager has a great approach and really sits and listens and understands the residents. I highly recommend Ivy Court if you're thinking of a care home for a loved one.
After Mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's dementia and a couple of trips to hospital, we were able to get Mum some respite at Ivy Court. She is fiercely independent and she often cried saying 'please don't put me in a home'. We tried to keep her in her own home as long as possible but after having a couple of falls she became a permanent resident. Ivy Court is unlike any other residential home we visited. It is more like a five-star hotel. It helped that the room layout was similar to Mum's previous apartment. There is a very comfortable cinema room and Mum's favourite on-site hair salon, simply stunning. The staff are all so loving and caring and someone is always just a call away. Mum is now settled and everyone is her new friend. Thank you Ivy Court.
Nan seems very settled in her new rooms at Ivy Court. It's a fairly new home and everywhere is immaculately clean, bright and spacious. It's safe and secure and Nan can stay in her room or take part in things that are organised for the residents, like birthday parties for residents and Christmas fairs. Nan was over the moon when staff took her a cake to her room with candles on, they were all singing to her. Our family got permission for a mobile phone for her room so we can talk to her directly and she always tells us how well the staff are looking after her. Thank you everyone.
I have always found the staff and managers very professional at all times, they make everything run as smoothly as possible. They are always doing things, such as at Christmas, always promoting everybody's well-being. I wish to say that they always do whatever they can, any issues that arise they do their absolute best to resolve them. I wish to say that, as someone who has worked in homes in the past, that they are simply the best, five-star at all times.
Always found the staff very helpful, caring and very cheerful. The facilities and the rooms are excellent and the environment is well-decorated and very comfortable and very spacious. Ivy Court looks after my mother very well. She is settled and happy. It was the best move for my mother. Thank you to everyone at Ivy Court.
We took our time selecting which care home to choose for Mum and Ivy Court was definitely the best choice we could’ve possibly made. The home is beautifully designed. It’s more like a hotel than a care home and the facilities are absolutely outstanding. However, by far the best thing about the home is the wonderful attentive and caring staff. I can’t speak highly enough about the care and support that Mum has received since becoming a full-time resident. Her health has definitely improved and she seems to be so very happy. Thank you Ivy Court for making such a difficult time, go better than we ever could have possibly imagined.
