View Full Details of Martlet ManorIn July, a friend took us to Martlet Manor to have Sunday lunch with her husband, a resident there. From as soon as we entered the home, we were impressed by the helpful, friendly and courteous way in which our friend was treated by all the staff in the rooms, corridors and lifts. Once we had met with her husband, we could see that he was being well cared for and was content in his room. We were particularly impressed by one young male member of staff who was so imaginatively trying to coax our friend to walk again. Lunch was very good food and the serving staff in the dining room worked very hard between themselves to create a buoyant and cheerful atmosphere, a sense that Sunday lunch was an occasion to enjoy. Our visit was a pleasure.
My father lived at Martlet Manor for the last, difficult year of his life. He was diagnosed with dementia shortly before admission. We felt it was important for Dad to live in a lovely home, like he'd been used to all of his life and to be well-fed and cared for. We were certainly not disappointed and often came away feeling rather envious. The food is exceptional, with plenty of choice and portion size. Tea, coffee, juice and lots of cake are offered between meals. There is a free cafe downstairs, full of yummy goods, available for everyone. A good place to catch up with your relative/friend. There is also a free bar and a stunning garden. The rooms are beautifully decorated with en-suite shower rooms and flat-screen TVs. The beds are like hospital beds, extremely hygienic with remote controls for positioning. Most importantly the staff are wonderful. Full of compassion, understanding and patience, with plenty of energy and lots of fun. We will miss our visits.
My mother urgently needed a short stay at the Martlet Manor to give herself some much-needed respite care for a few weeks following a difficult period with her health. The Customer Relations Manager was contacted and was quick to assist in finding a suitable room and get her moved in. My mother had previously stayed for a similar period earlier in the year and was very keen to return to the same facility. It was a nice surprise to discover that she would be returning to the same room as before which has made the move very un-stressful for my mother and she has quickly settled in. I'd like to thank the team at Martlet Manor for their support and kind professional care that they are providing, it means a lot to me knowing my Mother is happy and well looked after.
Our mother has only been in the home for just under a week and wow what a difference we have seen in her already. For someone who never wanted to be in a home, when we showed her Martlet Manor she seemed so excited about being a resident and wanted to go there as her first choice. She has made some friends already and we cannot fault the amazing staff that work so hard and make my mother feel so welcome. For a long time we have done nothing but worry about her health and safety at home but now that has been taken care of at Martlet Manor. We absolutely love it there for her and highly recommend.
My Dad moved into Martlet Manor after the death of my Mum. He quickly settled in and grew to love it there! The staff were wonderful and he really enjoyed joining in with all of the activities, I have a year's worth of wonderful memories of him living near me. When his life was nearing an end the care and kindness we all received was second to none. My thanks go to the whole team.
My mother was one of the first residents of Martlet Manor and lived there for over two and a half years. During that time she received excellent care from staff and had some favourite activities from among the many and varied options on offer. It was great to see her make friends and benefit from increased social contact, after having been quite isolated during the latter years of her independent life. The cafe and outdoor space meant that visiting was always a pleasant experience. Staff were very vigilant of her health, keeping me informed of any concerns, and I never had any doubt that she was in safe hands.
My friend has been at Martlet Manor for eight months now. When they arrived very frail and confused having got to the point of not being able to look after herself, she has improved so much. Because of the wonderful care she has 24/7. There is always someone to talk with, and the coffee shop is an amazing place to go for drinks and cake. The staff bend over backwards to help and go that extra mile. The building and rooms are large, bright and beautifully decorated.
Earlier this year, we took the decision to move our 92-year-old Mum from her existing care home into Martlet Manor, in order to be nearer to Dad's flat. We realised the change might not be easy for her as she was very settled in her routine but Mum soon engaged with the idea. We had very good dealings with the Customer Service team who went out of their way to facilitate the move for us. The care home is so bright and welcoming as you enter and Mum's patio room is very comfortable. The communal cafe is an absolute highlight (as are the homemade cakes) and Mum has already enjoyed entertaining her visitors in there. We have each eaten with Mum in the ground floor dining room and have found the food to be excellent. Mum has been stimulated and entertained by all the exciting events and activities open to her (she is still talking about the man with his electric ukele). Thanks to all the staff, particularly the Activities team, who have gone out of their way to make Mum feel so at home.
My uncle is superbly looked after at Martlet Manor. I’m particularly struck by the attitude of the staff who are warm, caring and seem genuinely to be glad to support him. They never indicate rush or impatience but approach him gently and kindly. The food is excellent- it’s very difficult to restrain yourself from saying yes to everything offered! In the run-up to Christmas, the home looked absolutely fantastic. There were decorations everywhere and also extra Christmassy activities which is great for morale! I also very much appreciate that the home manager is easily accessible, and feel that if I had a concern I could and would raise it. We took great care in choosing this home from lots available and regularly say how glad we are that my uncle is at Martlet Manor!
My experience of Martlet Manor has been very good. My mother has settled in well, has made a number of new friends and is certainly much happier now than when she was last living independently in Summer 2023. The staff are always very helpful and I know that Mum really appreciates everything they do for her. She has also put on some much needed weight which is a testament to the quality of the meals provided. In summary, I’m sure she would say it now really feels like home to her.
Martlet Manor came up trumps when we needed a room for my mother at very short notice. Following a visit to inspect the room and meet with some of the staff, we happily decided it was the right place. Since moving in, Mum has been well cared for. The staff are very friendly and the food is very good. Any issues are readily resolved. My sister and I are very happy that Mum is in the right environment for her now and she will be happy after a few weeks of settling in.
My mother moved into Martlet Manor in July 2023 and I cannot fault them for the care and kindness everyone has shown both to her and myself. From the personal bits of information they impart it is clear that they have taken the time and trouble to get to know her as an individual. It is lovely to see her now with a smile on her face, talking about the things she has done and the new friends she is making. Nothing is perfect in life, but I'm confident that Mum is in the best place possible to meet her needs and as we travel this road together (and believe you me it has been a steep learning curve for me too) any problems we do encounter will be resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible.
My mother was in Martlet Manor Care Home for nearly two years and was always treated with respect and compassion. The staff were amazing and very caring not just for the resident but family as well. Towards the end of Mum's life, every time I left her, any of the staff I passed on my way out would ask if I was ok. That meant a lot to me, thank you to everyone at Martlet Manor.
The wonderful staff gave more than 100% care to my 97-year-old-great-uncle, especially his end-of-life care. They respected his decisions, read stories to him, put gentle music on, called for advice from the community nurse and my uncle’s doctor and kept us as a family fully informed on my great uncle’s health. Previous to my uncle, they also cared for my lovely mum and again gave her and us so much kindness and support. If anyone has an elderly relative that needs full-time care, then go and visit your local Care UK residential home. You will be amazed at the clean, beautifully maintained facilities that offer your relative plenty of activities and genuine supportive, person-centred care.
Martlet Manor go above and beyond in ensuring that my Mother, who has dementia, is safe and beautifully cared for. Nothing is too much trouble, be it getting her a specially prepared meal if she doesn’t fancy what’s on the menu, to letting her have two baths a day, because she wants to. My Mother, and I, are treated with respect, dignity and the safeguarding in place is second to none. If I had to go into a permanent care home, I’d be clamouring to get into Martlet Manor. From the moment you walk through the door, you’re made to feel like the most important person and nothing you ask for or expect will be a pain. My Mother calls Martlet Manor “home”. That says it all to me. Thank you to every staff member and personnel for making my Mother’s life so smooth and gentle in her fragile state. I’m in your debt. My Mother is safe and that means everything to me.
We have recently moved both our parents into Martlet Manor. A very emotional time for us all but one which has been made so much easier with the kind and caring attitude of the staff. No question big or small has been ignored with particular thanks to the customer care manager, being so kind and patient and spending a great deal of time on the phone helping us with our concerns and settling mum and dad. We are so impressed with the energy and care the staff put into making sure all residents are happy and settled. The staff know all the residents names and greet everyone with a smile. Nothing is too much bother. Mum has been really enjoying all the activities and loving cinema night on a Friday evening. They both enjoy sitting in the sunshine on the patio with their sun hats on enjoying a cup of tea and cake as if they are on holiday! Our family is so grateful to have found such a wonderful care home and feel very fortunate that our parents are in such safe hands.
Excellent facilities, food and staff. Everyone from housekeeping to the chef goes above and beyond to make the residents and their relatives feel at home. The home is spotless, secure and the residents seem to enjoy themselves!
My 97-year-old father moved into Martlet Manor Care Home recently, after looking at a number of care homes Martlet Manor was our choice and we have not been disappointed. The staff are caring and, most importantly, know all the residents' names, always friendly and caring. My father thinks he is in a five-star hotel, he enjoys the choice of food and the activities that are organised regularly plus the addition of outside visits. We thoroughly recommend this care home.
My mother moved into Martlet Manor in the 2nd quarter of 2022. It was her decision to leave her home of 40 years and move to a care home chosen by her children. Apart from the first two days, when she was slightly confused by the change, she has been blissfully happy ever since. She is extremely comfortable and very well looked after. She loves her garden-facing room and participates in most of the activities on offer. As one of her children, it is a delight to see her so happy, and we all appreciate the level of care that is provided. The staff are always cheerful, welcoming, helpful, and prompt to respond.
My mother has been in the care of Martlet Manor for the past year and is extremely happy in the home. Having taken the difficult decision to move her from her own home into a care home that looks after dementia patients, I am really pleased with the care that she receives from the lovely and very caring carers at Martlet Manor. There are activities that stimulate her and make her happy and the support of all the staff is excellent. Thoroughly recommended.
