View Full Details of Mayflower CourtMayflower has cared for my mother since May 2024. I live abroad and am comforted by the level of care provided by the Mayflower team. Several times a week the team ensure that I can speak to Mum on the phone and are always readily available to let me know how Mum is doing. Mayflower provides a welcoming home environment and has ensured that we are part of the new family dynamic. Thank you, Mayflower!
The care home seems to be run very well with fantastic staff. My mother is always well looked after with plenty of actives to keep her busy throughout the day. Her room has a small garden attached to it for which reminds her of her own garden in the past and allows her to sit out in it weather permitting. She also loves walking round the larger garden on sunny days. Her only criticism has been the food standard has gone down over the past year there doesn't seem to be the variety that they use to have.
We have been very grateful for the loving support from all the team during a period of great distress for my mother when she was too frail to attend an important family funeral. The home arranged a special room to view the funeral streaming. The team have also been very supportive in helping my mother think about her wishes when it comes to her own death and prepared with her a detailed plan for how she would like to be cared for.
I find it very comforting that someone is always there to take care of me. I find my room excellent and very comfortable. I find the staff excellent and are always on hand to help. I enjoy the food and like that I can either eat in my room or in the dining room. The most important thing is having someone that can help as my health is not what it used to be. I also like the fact I can still go out by myself whenever I want.
I have visited my mother-in-law twice a year for 3 years as I live abroad. Every visit was unannounced and unplanned on every occasion, Mum was in excellent health, well-fed and nurtured and obviously well cared for. Her cleanliness and her surroundings were exceptional. I would be very happy to reside here in the future should my need arise.
We would like to thank the team at Mayflower Court following a difficult time with my mother, she has certainly had some issues due to her Dementia and ongoing anxiety both affecting her behaviour which could have compromised her staying at Mayflower. That said the care home leaders along with their team and in conjunction with support from NHS specialists have done everything they could to settle my mother down, with this great effort on their part they have achieved this and my mother is now much more settled and we are very thankful for this. Very recently they have also helped a great deal with her mobility, again another good positive. For us this change and my mother continuing to be at Mayflower Court is a great relief as the home is truly exceptional with even better caring people looking after her.
My aunt was cared for with a rare combination of professionalism and unfailing kindness in her last days. Her dignity was respected at all times. The family also felt superbly well supported at this difficult time and throughout her residency.
We are very happy with the care Mum is receiving. There is usually someone available at all times to discuss problems with my mum and any concerns I have had.
I have found the staff here very kind. The general experience has been very positive. My husband has settled in well and seems very happy here. The general atmosphere is very welcoming and I enjoy coming to see my husband.
Mayflower Court is a lovely care home. My mum has some needs where she falls into a middle ground. She doesn't quite need 24-hour care but does need help with medical care, company, and a bit of support. It was important to find a care home where it didn't feel like a care home. I visited several and Mayflower stood out straight away. It's modern with beautiful grounds and some of the rooms have little private gardens or balconies. The staff are lovely and the management is so supportive of the residents and went a step above for us to get Mum a room quickly. They arrange lovely family gatherings and have activities daily for the residents. If I had to go into a care home later in life, Mayflower Court would be the one.
My husband spent respite time at Mayflower Court. He was very settled and happy. The staff were excellent with his care.
I have been visiting Mayflower Court for the last couple of years. I have always left knowing my lovely friend is being cared for exceptionally well. My friend sadly became very ill and was put on end-of-life care. I visited her daily and the room was always calm, clean and relaxed. The privacy was very good and the staff continuously checked in and tended to our needs. They called nurses when needed, she was never left uncomfortable for a second they all just wanted her to spend her last days relaxed. The staff were amazing, they were respectful and kind at all times and took moments to sit with me when I needed someone. When the time came for my lovely friend to leave us, the home cared for her with such respect and dignity and I am extremely grateful. I would highly recommend Mayflower Court and can ensure you are in the best hands whether that be living there or visiting family/friends.
The home really is as lovely as it seems, as are the staff. My mother passed away recently after a happy final year of life at the home. She had not wanted to leave her own home, but circumstances dictated that she had to and after once resident, she quickly fell into a happy and fulfilling routine. The care for and genuine affection of the staff for my mother was really evident in her final days. The 'good old NHS' tried hard to let her down, but the staff, ever vigilant, ever caring, made sure that her last few days were as comfortable as they could be. They are a credit to their profession. Should I end up in a home myself one day, please let it be this one!
My wife suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and has been in Mayflower Court for almost a year now. Her dementia is quite extreme which makes her very difficult to take care of, but all the staff and management at Mayflower Court work hard to look after her and to try to help her settle into her new home. While she is still not fully settled and she has good and bad days, I do see signs that she is gradually starting to settle in and accept much needed help from her carers. I am impressed with the quality of the care, her room and the common areas, the gardens, the food and also all the organised activities which she can sometimes be persuaded to join.
I have no complaints about anything, so very pleased my husband is in Mayflower Court Care Home. Staff, at all levels, are so kind and helpful. My husband appears to have settled in very well.
I came here at the beginning of May 2023. I am so happy except I get homesick (which I deal with in my own way) I can't get used to other residents coming into my room day and night, apart from this I feel very happy here. There is always activities being held (optional). Visiting is not restricted with visitors always being made welcome. The staff are second to none.
I found the care home very much like a hotel, nothing was too much trouble, from the staff down to management.
Have found the caring here extremely good with very few exceptions. Given as much freedom as possible, if you are reasonably independent. Activities are good and have some really good entertainment provided. The rooms are excellent and we have very lovely gardens with plenty of tables and chairs.
I attended Mayflower Court for the Jubilee party to visit a friend who lives there. What an amazing day we had. The staff put on such a wonderful experience, a lot of thought and effort was put into the day. It included all the residents and they all had so much fun. A very clean and well-presented care home which I was very impressed with, staff were extremely helpful and again made it such a pleasant time. Such a wonderful day and the manager was very helpful showing us around the home and introducing us to staff members who take care of my friend. Well done Mayflower Court.
I was very pleased to see how well the management and staff worked to keep the home covid free during the difficult months of the covid pandemic. The team are now working hard to grow the important link with the families and friends as I have seen with the wonderful celebration of my mother’s 100th Birthday involving all the staff and a beautiful birthday cake made by the chef and his very able kitchen team. This was followed by a garden party to celebrate the Queen’s platinum anniversary that brought together residents, family, friends and staff. My mother has been happy and well looked after by a concerned and caring team. I have been very grateful to this caring team.
