View Full Details of Mearns HouseMy husband was in for nine days respite. After researching various care homes, my husband picked Mearns House. The home was immaculate and very fresh. The staff went above and beyond to ensure my husband had an enjoyable and relaxing stay. His words at the end if his stay was it was more like a hotel than a care home. We would most definitely use Mearns House again.
Staff friendly and caring, high level of cleanliness, very welcoming to visitors and nothing too much trouble for the staff. High level of care and comfort being provided and all needs being met on a day to day basis.
Staff are exceptional and nothing is a problem. They are always willing to help and residents are so happy and settled. Care home has a welcoming and homely feeling. As a family, we are happy to see our aunt happy and plenty of activities for her.
Since moving into Mearns House, the staff have been super friendly and cannot do enough to ensure I am comfortable and have everything I may need. The patio room has enabled me to maintain a level of independence and mobility.
My mother took up residency at Mearns Court in October 2023 having been widowed in 2020 and becoming less self-sufficient. She sadly passed away in March 2024; however, my brother and I will be eternally grateful to all the staff at Mearns House for the care and genuine love they provided during our mum's stay. They gave her a new lease of life, providing amazing entertainment and activities. They would constantly go 'above and beyond' to optimise the experience of the residents and create a joyful, safe and loving 'home.'
The activities staff organised a Mother's Day musical high tea. Mum thoroughly enjoyed the tea and cakes and was able to sing along to the tunes. This is typical of the thoughtful and interactive events at Mearns House. Particular thanks to the activities coordinator for organising the fabulous event and for leading Mum and all the residents in the fun afternoon.
The kindness and empathy shown to our family member was second to none. All staff interaction with us were friendly, professional, empathetic and attentive. Our children were able to visit and were always made welcome and felt at ease. The home is spotless and residents' needs and personalities are taken into account when providing care. Overall, very satisfied with this establishment and all staff. Brilliant service, staff simply couldn't have done more. Thank you!
Enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day at Mearns House with a lovely afternoon tea accompanied by two fantastic musicians who were specially chosen because they could sing and speak in Gaelic, Mum's first language. It was so thoughtful and mum was grinning from ear to ear all afternoon.
Mearns House has welcomed Mum into their home and the entire team is very friendly, well organised and caring. Mum has vascular dementia and the staff are patient, encouraging and aware of Mum's capabilities and needs and are proactive with any health concerns with any health concerns. The staff keep the family informed and updated. Mum has enjoyed the activities and getting to know members of staff and other residents. The entertainment is varied and the activities team has encouraged Mum to participate (pantomime, puppet show, yoga, and wreath making etc.) (Food: Mum has to have her food minced).
My mum has settled in really well, she is enjoying the activities and is making friends. Since coming to the home, she has come on leaps and bounds. Staff are very friendly and very inclusive. As a family, we are extremely happy with the nursing home.
Since moving into Mearns House in May, my dad has settled very well. The staff are all caring and attentive. They are proactive in addressing any health concerns and keep me informed regularly. The range of activities is superb and the activities team are tireless in their efforts to engage everyone. My dad takes part in activities, he would never have considered before and enjoys outings with all his new friends. Our experience of Mearns House is 100% positive.
Exceptionally nice and helpful staff. A happy atmosphere, a wide range of activities, is very well organised and the activities team is excellent. Aware of residents' capabilities and interests. The facility is well cared for and clean. Sometimes, communication between staff at all levels could be better. Overall, I am happy with my mother's care and welfare.
My mother came from the home straight from the hospital following a fall which resulted in a broken hip. My mother also suffered from dementia but the care she received in the short time she was in the home was wonderful. I am happy we chose this home for what turned out to be my mother's final weeks.
Firstly I would like to thank everyone involved with my wife's care. I couldn't single out anyone for particular thanks, except to say that the team in Wallace wing are all outstanding and so accommodating with my wife. The activities are excellent given the amount of choice and care support was good. The staff and management are excellent.
My mum was quite poorly when we arrived, mum can no longer live independently even with me looking after her. Mearns House has been wonderful for us both. Mum has her mojo back and I can have fun with her when I visit. The staff are extremely caring, fun and genuinely love their job. The facilities and environment are excellent!
Very reassuring to know my gran is in good care. She always seems happy when I come to visit and is well looked after. Facilities are always clean and supervised. Overall, very good service.
The care provided is excellent at Mearns House. Mum is well looked after and enjoys all the activities on offer. The food seems ok, nothing fancy, but Mum enjoys it. All the staff know Mum by name and seem to care for her well, and she loves all the staff in the home.
Mum was given a very warm welcome, the whole team helping Mum to feel settled as quickly as possible. The nursery team spent a lot of time getting to know Mum, great modern facilities, including underfloor sensors to monitor any movements in the rooms at night and tagging clothes so they don't get mixed up - genius idea. Food options are excellent, with plenty of treats and tea available. Very varied range of weekly activities so residents can socialise and keep active where possible. And great coffee for visitors too!
My experience has been largely positive. I find the care staff very friendly, attentive, caring and professional. I receive a phone call if my mum has had even a small/minor accident informing me of her condition and any treatment she has received. My mum has mild Alzheimers and enjoys chatting with staff and looks forward to attending activities which staff also join in with. My brother and I attended my mum's six-month review last week where we discussed her care going forward with a care assistant.
I have great confidence in the care that my stepmother is receiving at Mearns House. She has lived here for over a year and her health and well-being have improved during this time. The staff are always friendly and attentive, the meals are enjoyable and there is a wide range of activities on offer. The common areas and rooms are clean and tidy, and there is an attractive garden to enjoy during warmer months. Whenever any health issues have arisen, I have been quickly updated, and I am reassured by the standard of care offered. The most important thing is that my stepmother is content, safe and settled - and truly considers Mearns House as home.
