View Full Details of Murray & Evanthea HouseI am most grateful for the support with ensuring my brother’s attendance at his brother’s funeral. A minor concern is that a pair of reading glasses that was purchased went missing and my brother seems to have not been encouraged to use them beforehand. I believe that social services have organised for a new pair to be bought and I would hope that he is encouraged to use these and do whatever reading he can and that the glasses are kept safe for him.
Superb care and accommodation, excellent food and programmes of activities. Staff are very professional and caring and create a gentle and supportive environment for their residents. My sister has settled well and appears happy and content, she loves the attention that staff give her and is comfortable in her new home. I have total confidence in the care that she has received. During the past two years.
My husband has been in Murray East for over four months now. Like many before me, I struggled with the idea that my dear husband of over 40 years should need to leave his own home to be cared for. Never once has any member of staff suggested that I could have managed with a bit more help at home - it wasn't available anyway. We have been loved and cared for and I know we are in the presence of professionals. I have observed how staff dealt with my husband and learnt so much. I have also seen some of the challenges they have to deal with - nothing is too much trouble. The calm and gentleness have blown me away. Of course, life is never 100% perfect and on the only occasion I spoke with management about something which upset me, it was dealt with promptly with immediate feedback to me. The thing is my husband was in another care home for two months beforehand - so I know how exceptional Murray East is.
Excellent caring service from supportive carers, cannot fault them. Excellent food for residents, couldn't be better. Lack of communication is still a problem, for example when 2 musicians arrived a couple of months ago this had been listed as happening in Murray West then became Murray East in the newsletter. When they arrived at reception there was no one who knew anything about where they should be! They were taken to Murray West where they gave a performance enjoyed by everyone but they weren't wearing masks! Obviously, it would have been impossible to sing with masks on. Carers didn't seem to know they were coming. Not the first time that information wasn't getting to the right place. Also, would like to see sun umbrellas provided and sunscreen for all residents outside in the sun on hot days, not just one tatty umbrella!
First class care. Superb staff who not only care for, support and show great kindness to the residents but also help and support me when feeling a bit low. Staff are always very friendly, pleasant and generous with their time. My husband is now at home in Murray & Evanthea House and I know he feels safe and secure. Many, many thanks to all staff.
I have always found the staff to be caring, compassionate and respecting of the resident's privacy. If one of the residents has been upset, then a member of the care staff has responded quickly with reassurance and comfort. Every effort is made to cater for any requests, by the resident, with regard to meals, should they want something 'special' to them eg a request for bacon and eggs at 4.00 in the afternoon!
What wonderful caring staff at QME care. Mum's treated with dignity and respect, we are happy that's where she will be in the end and know she is treated with the utmost care and attention. Thank you.
My mum recently became a resident in Evanthea House. My initial contact with the home, through their website, gave me a very strong understanding of the underpinning ethos and values. This was very evident from my initial visit and in discussion with staff about my mum’s needs prior to her moving in. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. The kindness has been extended to the wider family. I feel that my mum is in a place where she is well looked after and safe and her wishes and needs are understood. Mum is always telling me how much she likes the staff and the food! We love the environment, which is welcoming and spotless. It is so nice that each resident has their own outdoor space which they can access from their rooms. The fact that there are only 9 residents in Evanthea with a consistent staff team is very important to us. We are delighted with how well Mum has settled and this is down to the care she receives from the team around her.
Every town in the borders should have a QME care home. They know exactly how to look after individuals with dementia. The care my loved one received was second to none. Their compassion and professionalism was outstanding. Can not thank the staff enough especially the health care assistants.
