View Full Details of Oakhill MansionsMy father has been a resident at Oakhill Mansions for over a year now, and I am very pleased with the high standard of care he receives. The staff are friendly and helpful, and they create a calm, caring and spotlessly clean environment. During our visits, my family always feels very welcome, and we are always able to discuss any medical issues with the nurse. The home itself is a beautiful building with light, airy rooms and a lovely garden where we can take Dad outside in the warm weather. I would highly recommend this nursing home.
My husband has been so very well treated in Oakhill. His sisters & I have always been impressed with the genuine love & care he receives here. The staff are so lovely & take care of his every need. There's nothing I can fault. Food is excellent & plentiful, with good choices to suit everyone's needs. If I ended up in here I think I would really happy to be in such a lovely environment.
Oakhill Mansions is a lovely place. It has caring, helpful staff who look after my husband's many needs and respond readily to any request. The bedroom is light and airy with an excellent bathroom and lovely views. I can go home, safe in the knowledge that he is being well looked after.
Staff are attentive and polite, rooms are very good, with excellent security. My 97-year-old father was at first somewhat confused but staff and nurses soon made him feel at home, so to speak, it is an excellent care home.
My mum lives at Oakhill Mansions. She's lived there for over 2 years. She has lived with Dementia for about 15 years. I can't speak highly enough about the staff here. They care for my Mum as if she was their own. Her room is beautiful, always clean and tidy. She is always nicely dressed. (This is so important as mum has always been a very smart lady). Staff are so friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you all, you are angels.
Dreadful experience over 18 months. Only interested in £££. Staff poorly trained (especially dementia). English skills very poor - elderly residents don't understand staff and staff don't understand important medical/social needs. Two activity coordinators for 90 residents! Stressed, under resourced/unappreciated. Very little activity provided. Refused to use minibus, never took people out. I took mum out three times a week to compensate. I was exhausted, all for extortionate fee of £8,000 per month. Apart from basic and nursing care, there's no love or respect, no consistency of staff in a dementia unit and 'manager' inept/powerless. Mum fell down concrete steps (Christmas day), as no outside lights and fake foliage on handrails so mum couldn't hold on! She was 89 and could have died. I fed back all my concerns via their own well-being survey, totally ignored. Contacted the owners, unaware and did not care. Equipment was broken and filthy. Food and laundry ok but a dead, joyless place. Do not send family there. Awful.
The staff at The Lodge, Oakhill Mansions are caring for my 96 year old mum in a sensitive manner. She has had a stroke and also has a diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia. She is always treated with respect and my siblings and I are confident that she is happy, safe and secure in this care home.
My dad was in Oakhill Mansions for the last 4 and a half months. The care given was wonderful very attentive to the residents and lovely with visitors nothing was to much trouble for the staff. Christmas was a lovely experience, I was also able to take my little dog in which a lot of the residents enjoyed. We lost dad Sunday staff were amazing very comforting and helpful. Thank you very much to all staff we will be forever grateful. Thank you again from myself, my mum and his grandchildren.
My father moved into Oakhill Mansions in 2020 following a dementia diagnosis complicated by severe Covid. He was basically bedridden after having been reasonably active for most of his life. The staff at Oakhill are superb - they get to know the residents at a deep level, really care and work with family members and friends to enhance the life experiences of the residents. Examples include regular garden parties, bingo, men's group etc. Birthdays are celebrated in style. They also go the extra mile. I can remember them arranging a private "concert" for my father who loved classical music - a flautist and cellist came in to play for him. There were also instances where a member of staff came in at the weekend to watch a film with my dad that they were both interested in. Having your loved ones in a care setting is difficult and especially when you live (as I do) over 400 miles away. Knowing that my dad was so well cared for at Oakhill was a great comfort for me and I am very grateful!
My late wife was transferred to Oakhill Mansion in April of this year from a sister home. Within a short period at Oakhill, she was treated with the utmost dignity and care. The care can also be said for her stay at the other home. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending both care homes. Many thanks. Once again.
This is early days for my family as my mother only moved on 14th October. She was very traumatised by the change of being blind and having dementia, we have to talk things through and very kind. Her room is lovely but she feels isolated and lonely. The staff are trying to include her in some activities. We are hoping she will soon settle, it is difficult to write more as it's such early days but we are happy with the care home at this stage.
I have just returned home from Oakhill Mansion from the 100th birthday party arranged by the manager for a dear family friend. The lady in question has a large number of family and friends who travelled many miles to be with her on this special birthday. The staff, room preparation and hospitality were absolutely excellent and over 30 people enjoyed a wonderful birthday celebration. Very many thanks to the manager and staff at Oakhill for making this a very special day for both the birthday girl and the attendees.
Mum was at Oakhill for two and half years, which she enjoyed at times. The staff looked after her well, she got on well with most of the staff. There were a few negatives, which was quite a few staff were not very good with speaking in English, but were very caring with her. She had her favourites.
As always we are so impressed with the care received here. Everyone is so caring and looks after my brother excellently as we know he is not easy at times (understandably). Highly recommend this case home. Cleanliness and hygiene standards are very high.
Everyone at Oakhill Mansions was very kind and easy to deal with. My father entered in October 2022 and the doctor was not hopeful of him surviving for very long, but due to the care and attention, we had Dad until July 2024. All the staff were extremely attentive and kind to my dad and to us as a family.
The Lodge at Oakhill is led by brilliant team leaders. Our dad was a resident for two and a half years. The care team were extremely helpful, friendly and caring. Any minor care issues over that time were dealt with promptly. The bedroom was beautiful, airy and light, with windows into a view of trees and flowers. My only complaint regarding the building is the lounge is windowless but cosy.
Oakhill Mansions (Lodge) has provided outstanding and empathetic care to my mother-in-law throughout her journey with dementia and eating disorder. We were always kept well-informed of developments/changes in her condition and felt like the staff treated us like family. During my mother-in-law's final 13 days, staff went above and beyond their duties to ensure she was comfortable. We can't thank them enough for their support.
I cannot praise the home enough. Even though I only came for a short while, for recuperation after an operation. I was able to get a very good view of what was happening, on a daily basis in this home. I cannot praise the staff enough, nothing was too much trouble. They were kind thoughtful and nothing was too much trouble well done.
My father is receiving the highest quality of care at Oakhill Mansions. We decided to opt for 24-hour residential care due to home care being inadequate for my father's complex needs. This was an emotional step for us all but I have been reassured and supported through the whole process. The quality of the accommodation is exceptional. Clean, bright and fresh smelling. Dad is very comfortable and very well cared for. The staff are superb and have become good friends. The staff turnover is low, reflecting the happy environment. Highly recommend.
The staff are amazing and care about the residents. Cleanliness is second to none and the building is up to date and modern. My dad is very happy here.
