View Full Details of Orchard GardensMy mother has great care at Orchard Gardens. There is a good activities programme and a trip out every week for all to enjoy. They are a very happy bunch of staff and it's always a pleasure to visit my mum there.
The staff at Orchard Gardens are caring, attentive, professional and friendly and have gone above and beyond to ensure my father is well cared for and comfortable in his new environment. Communication has been excellent with family members and I feel I could approach them with any issues. They have encouraged my father to participate in engaging activities and have provided well-prepared and delicious food. I am reassured with the level of care he is receiving. Thank you.
I feel my dad is quite happy at Orchard Gardens. Dad says he can't think of anything to make his stay better. There have been issues with laundry but I believe this has been dealt with. He actually went on a trip and enjoyed this very much.
I feel that my dad is being cared for very well. The home is warm and does not feel like a care home but a good hotel. The good looks great and there is plenty of it. I think my dad benefits greatly from the day trips out of the home plus the daily activities put on. It can not be easy for the staff dealing with my dad but all seem to do a fantastic job. I am happy that my dad is a resident of this home.
The staff are always polite, caring and professional, nothing is too much trouble. The manager was very accommodating when my father had to be admitted as an emergency. She explained very clearly and ensured his admission ran smoothly. My mother was admitted here when discharged from hospital and we received the same seamless professional experience.
My mum arrived at the end of November. The facilities, food, care and support are second to none. Thank you.
This care home is such a special place. The effort that the team put into organising activities for the residents is absolutely amazing. Almost every day there is something going on to stimulate and encourage the residents. The carers are all very kind, the home is clean, light and airy. It is worth every penny.
Could not fault the staff or facilities. The staff were always polite and willing to answer any questions, or queries. Unfortunately, my mother did not participate in any of the activities as she was not interested.
My father was in Orchard Gardens for a six-week period of respite care after fracturing his collarbone. During this time he was treated with care and respect and as a family, we felt at ease leaving him in the safe hands of the staff. We were also given a very warm welcome when visiting and were fully supported by everyone. They really care about their residents and we would recommend this care home to anyone.
Outstanding level of care and support shown at all times. Always helpful, nothing is too much trouble. We can't thank staff enough for all of the help and support also shown to us as a family.
dad seems very comfortable and happy until he has a problem. I have no complaints. Unfortunately Dad has had a small stroke and it has left him blind but he seems to be coping with the help of the excellent staff.
My mother moved to Orchard Gardens in July 2021 and the staff have always been caring and helping her settle and meet her wishes. From autumn 2023 Mum became iller and frailer and we could not have asked for a more kind, caring and attentive staff. They maintained her dignity at all times. Her team leader was excellent, always keeping us informed of changes in her health and medication. In her final days staff were so thoughtful and kind to us as a family and Mum. Management has not always been efficient and general communication has been poor and non-existent on occasion which is a shame because otherwise, the home is excellent.
I think we struck very lucky in finding Orchard Gardens. There is nothing to fault. The standards are high in every way. It's great that Mum has been introduced to colouring - something she's never done before, but which she now loves. We have just had an in-depth meeting with a staff member which literally covered everything concerning Mum's care. It was very impressive and helpful to know all we were told. Thank you to you all for all the care and all you do for Mum.
Excellent welcome by all the care staff. They build a relationship with the families too. They have taken their time to make Dad feel safe, comfortable and part of the community; spending time to invite him to activities and getting him involved.
We are so glad to see Mum content. The carers are so helpful and keep Mum busy. They make sure that their time here is filled with entertainment or outings, singing and dancing. When we think of Mum's time at the home and how she is looked after here, we are so happy for her.
My dad came in after an illness. He couldn't move and not really chat or hold a conversation. After four days of fab TLC, he is starting to be the person he used to be. The night and day staff have been great and dealt with him at his lowest point, and he is very grateful. With the use of a physio onsite, it's just perfect for rehabilitation.
The home has been very good at looking after my mum, despite Covid restrictions and staff shortages. The food choices have been restrictive and not very appetising, but are starting to improve. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The care manager has been very helpful, and nothing is too much trouble.
I can't raise Orchard Gardens highly enough. I was so daunted at the start of my process to find my mother residential care, but the staff have been amazing, supporting Mum and myself. Never too busy to listen and answer our concerns. The rooms are beautiful and the programme of activities varied and stimulating. An overall excellent establishment where I'm happy to call home for my mum!
Now that I have visited the care home frequently, I feel the relationship with the staff is friendly, helpful and considerate. The grounds are lovely to walk in, and this helps the mental health and physical mobility of the residents to use them daily with support. More physical activities may be needed by younger residents. Everyone is very kind and supportive of the care of the residents. However, some extra support may be needed for residents who find the hours long and not able to read or participate with the weekly activities or use a TV. It is a well-run home with a sound and considerate management and caring team.
Overall, I think this is a lovely care home and I feel confident my father, and previously my mother too, is cared for kindly and safely. The main issue is the lack of consistency of night staff. Many new faces and unfortunately, with the needs of my father, has at times been unsettling. Another issue is the occasional lack of communication from management. The example I would give is a lack of response over many weeks about when/if a dentist might visit. But at times management has responded very promptly and efficiently.
