View Full Details of Portsdown ViewMy family had a long haul holiday and was looking for respite for caring for elderly mother. I chose Portsdown view as previously visited and mother's sister is in full term care. My initial contact with the care home was very positive, excellent communications. A week prior to her arriving we had an assessment review which was detailed and made me fill happy leaving my mother in their care. The accommodation, staff and managers were excellent and she received outstanding care and they provided constant activities to keep her engaged and made sure she felt as she was on holiday. The food standards were excellent, beautiful maintained facilities. I will certainly recommend and will use again. I can't thank the team enough for all they did and in such a positive manner.
My parents came in on respite after my mothers operation. Sadly they didn't mix much but I can't fault the staff. Care was carried out in full but any extra help was hit and miss when it came to exercises and physio. With regard to management, I can only thank the staff member in the bistro and another in the office. Without their help and understanding I don't know what would have happened. Two incredible people!!
This is my first experience of Portsdown Views. My mum is in her first week of respite care there. The management of the whole experience has been brilliant. From the initial phone call I have felt reassured that my mum would be well looked after. The management have given excellent support, which has been echoed by the whole staff. Everyone so welcoming and nurturing.
Friendly caring staff. Very attentive. Five star facilities. Recommend to all.
Having been a daily visitor for eleven weeks I have seen many examples of the gentle but effective care all staff extend to residents regardless of physical or mental problems. I perceive this is the normal approach not the exception which is commendable. Faced with a serious medical emergency in the past week with the resident I visit I cannot give enough praise to the two members of staff who handled this difficult situation with skill professionalism and empathy. When recovered the resident will return permanently as this is an exceptional care home.
My mum has spent 2 weeks here in respite care. I have seen more staff than residents and they are all very welcoming, friendly and caring. It is lovely and clean. Residents are well looked after. We had an 85th party for my mum, food was lovely and they made her a birthday cake and bought her flowers which she loved, she has dementia so couldn't remember any of it. The family appreciated all the effort from the staff. So far everything has been positive.
Portsdown View were incredible when my grandma needed respite care urgently. They went above and beyond to help her feel comfortable and made our whole family feel welcome. You are always greeted with a genuine smile. The food is excellent (especially the daily cakes) and there is a massive variety of activities on offer. I felt confident that my grandma was safe and they acted quickly when she needed to go to hospital. We will definitely be returning to Portsdown View for any future care needs.
Well where to start. Not sure if the care home messed up or the hospital but my grandad was dumped off at 8:30am to which no one was accepting responsibility. To my mum's shock she found a picture of my grandad on a social media site (may I add nothing had been signed to say this was allowed), which caused a great upset to the whole family and he would be horrified if he knew. We were told we would be getting apology email - we are still waiting. Data Protection Breech:- I confronted management about the phone calls I was receiving about my grandad as I believed the first point of contact should have been my mum, to which I was told because I'm not POA I shouldn't have been contacted by law and they kept saying they didn't have my number. Very strange. The attention he got from the carers was good and they were the ones who asked how he was when he was admitted to hospital. From management we received no courtesy phone call nothing. The list could go on. Don't waste your hard earned money.
We are non-residents who have been warmly welcomed into Portsdown View. We visit a resident and have very kindly been invited by the events manager to accompany our friend and to participate in a number of different activities within the home, which has been a delight. A member of my family has dementia, who we care for, and accompanies me on our visits so it is lovely that she can join in too. We have been greeted by the manager and kindly shown round the home by the events manager, the facilities are first-class. All staff have been friendly, from the receptionist at arrival to all the carers that we have met, they recognise us and will stop and say hello. The environment is calm, spacious, homely and everything is so well-organised, we appreciate the staff's efforts and attentiveness. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea today, our compliments go to the homes wonderful chef, thank you so much!
Both of my parents went into Portsdown View in August 2024 after living with me for 18 months and it was the best decision we could have made. The home is lovely, it is always clean and tidy and the surroundings are inviting and relaxing. The food is always excellent and being able to have lunch in the Bistro with Mum feels like our weekly treat. There is always something going on like gentle exercise, trips out, quizzes and crafting. The staff are just lovely and always make us feel welcome when we visit. They genuinely care about the residents and their families and this was demonstrated when my Dad passed away in November and the time leading up to his passing. They could not have been kinder and I feel safe in the knowledge that Mum isn't alone as she has this community supporting her.
Visit to the garden centre on 20/11/2024. The garden centre has incorporated a Christmas exhibition into its display arrangements. It provides a unique exhibition of high quality and related to Christmas. The visit included a refreshment stop for coffee and cake. Transport to the garden centre and return was provided. A particular staff member from the care home ensured a well-organised trip to this unique venue.
Mum's last few weeks before she passed away were handled with care, dignity, compassion, and understanding by all the staff. They were amazing in helping with this sad time. One of the girls stayed all night with Mum to give the family a break. They made Mum's passing a lot easier to deal with in every way—liaising with the funeral company, getting Mum ready, etc. A true and incredible team who have the families grateful thanks for all they did. From the start 15 months ago to the end. The whole experience has been one of care, commitment, dedication, above and beyond, respect, and understanding. A truly fantastic team, who even attended the funeral. Well done and thank you.
On every visit, I have found all the staff to be understanding of my sister's needs. They are patient and helpful and kind. She enjoys various activities, which is unexpected as she was very resistant to Portsdown View initially. I know my sister had mood swings and can be difficult. I feel completely confident in the quality of care she is receiving.
I booked into Portsdown View for respite following a knee replacement. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with friendship and excellent care. Everyone who worked there was kindness itself, and my every need was catered for. In fact, my granddaughter thought I was in a five-star hotel. Food was very good and plenty of activities if wanted.
We have been very happy with the care home since my dad became a resident in 2023, but because of my recent experience with the manager and other care staff, I feel that I should thank them all for really caring. My father has recently spent about 13 days in hospital, quite seriously ill, and the care home staff have kept in contact to find out how he's doing. They have been extremely supportive and all staff have been genuinely concerned. The manager said that they would pick my dad up as soon as he was pronounced fit to go, to save him waiting around for an ambulance to take him home. Today the home have been true to their word and sent staff to pick him up as soon as I phoned to tell them he could go, and he has been promised any meal that he fancied. I have confidence that my dad is in the best place to be looked after as though he were family. Thank you to the three staff members who collected him from the hospital, and all the other fantastic staff members at Portsdown View.
Since my husband became a resident earlier this year I have been most impressed with the care, respect and ongoing understanding of his health issues the staff have for him. I always feel made most welcome when I visit, with a warm happy atmosphere on entering the building.
Dad went to Portsdown View in March 2024. The local area is lucky to have this beautifully appointed facility, a breath of fresh air from usual images of Care Homes. I believe nationally the Care Industry is under huge pressure and it is far from easy for anyone working in the Care Sector. Portsdown View in establishing itself is rising to the inevitable challenges through the support of dedicated genuinely caring staff who show a strong sense of dignity compassion and respect in their interactions with residents when attending to the existing diverse range of care needs. Fun activities make for a warm friendly welcoming atmosphere for residents and relatives. Being able to enjoy high standard meals with Dad in the Bistro is fantastic. I feel confident to entrust Dad into their caring hands. This confidence has been proven through immediate actions taken by care staff when required. I appreciate how I am spoken to during visits the care shown towards me and the fun it is possible to share together.
Very impressed with all the surroundings. All staff seemed happy in their work and were very helpful. We were given a guided tour of the home and found it very interesting and informative. Will be visiting our friend as often as possible.
My wife attended for two weeks respite to allow me to have a holiday. The whole experience, from the initial visit to discharge was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble, and my wife settled in really well. Even when my wife had visitors, such as family or friends, the same courtesies were extended to them. All in all, my wife and I have no hesitation in recommending this home.
Very clean and welcoming place. Impressed by reception given from the start to the end. Was attending a cowboy themed event ,really impressed by facilities offered and how happy the residents appeared. Great place.
