View Full Details of Heatherton HouseDementia care Dad has been a permanent resident of Heatherton House for 14 months. With the deterioration of his dementia (coupled with a chest infection that took him to the hospital) Heatherton House declined to allow him back into the care home. This surprised us, as the reason that we chose Heatherton House, was because they promoted themselves as experts in dementia care. In our experience, the dementia care offered by Heatherton House seems to be limited and, when challenging behaviours were expressed, they seemed unable to cope. Furthermore, we were not kept fully informed of incidents that were later listed as reasons for terminating his residency. On the day we came to collect Dad's belongings and medication, no one from the management team took the time to speak with us, to enquire how he was doing or to wish him well for the future. This was very disappointing and left us feeling that the management team lacked concern for his ongoing welfare.
Dad stayed for two week's respite and to get a taste for what a modern care home can offer. We were able to visit whenever we wanted and were made to feel very welcome. Dad said he couldn't fault it - it's very clean and comfortable, the staff are kind and attentive and the food is great. He could definitely live there!
My mum arrived at Heatherton House following a 2 week stay in hospital and 3 weeks respite care elsewhere. It was an extremely stressful time for her. The staff have been excellent, helping her to settle in and care for her, not-inconsiderable, needs. Their care and attention have allowed me to move forward, knowing she is safe and well.
My family and I decided to take advantage of a respite care stay at Heatherton House for me in light of my arthritis and risk of falling while they were all away on holiday. I faced the prospect with trepidation but I need not have been concerned because it was like my own holiday as they had predicted. I could not have waited for a more pleasant and friendly staff throughout management, carers, household staff and the chefs. There were busy delays in the mornings, but everyone received the help they needed to start their day. The house itself is comfortable, attractive and immaculate in every way. I will certainly return to Heatherton should the need return. Thank you.
My mother stayed at Heatherton House for respite. She thoroughly enjoyed her stay the accommodation is of 5-star standard. She enjoyed the food. The care was outstanding, above and beyond, with friendly, smiley, helpful staff. She enjoyed some of the activities on offer, although she is 94 and very happy to have her afternoon nap! We would have no hesitation in recommending Heatherton House and my mum has a return visit already booked in.
I placed my Dad here for 3 weeks restbite, I was a nervous wreck as it had taken ages to agree to a holiday with him there. The home is of excellent standard with a lot of facilities within the price which although is expensive it isn't really any more expensive than others, and is just like a hotel. My Dad settled well and the staff were lovely to him, he has Altzeimer's so it was good to see him happy, the food was good and varied and wasn't restricted in any way, I could ring anytime to make sure he was ok and they sent me some videos of him joining in with the activities and even dancing with the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and I feel they looked after my Dad as well as I could. We are back in September for three weeks knowing he will be ok.
I am absolutely blown away, by the kindness and understanding, from both management and staff following a difficult time recently. The whole team have been just lovely, ensuring they have heard us, and even down to the smallest of details. Mum is finally full of smiles! I have to say a massive thank you to the home manager, the deputy manager, the day manager and the senior. The room is just fantastic and has little locked areas for more personal possessions and a little fridge. The bed is absolutely perfect for Mum, and she manages to roll independently, without fear and minimal support to do so. The food has been ace according to Mum! Facilities are fresh and clean. Nothing is too much! 100% care! Haven't seen activities yet, but seems there are always fun things happening, and all the residents seem so happy. Really happy so far.
My sister has been living at Heather House since January. All the staff have been friendly and welcoming, I am more than happy to leave my sister with such caring people.
I cannot fault the care that my um receives from the staff and caregivers at Heatherton House. She is always clean and well nourished constantly encouraged to engage in the wealth of activities offered at the home. Mum is a fall risk but has never been left alone so has not fallen since she has been at Heatherton House. This is a total relief to the whole family. The residents are continually monitored for their health by the local GP surgery too. Families are actively encouraged to visit and are made to feel very welcome. The staff are fantastic. I cannot praise everyone there highly enough. Thank you!
Excellent place. Safe, friendly and caring environment created by management and staff who are courteous and attentive with a good sense of humour thrown in. Friends and relatives always welcome for visits, outings etc. Would definitely recommend.
The staff are all very friendly and have a smile on their faces. Nothing is too much trouble for them. As it is new, the home is very modern with comfortable lounges and dining areas which encourage residents to socialise. The bedrooms are lovely. The home provides medical care and attention and the staff take a personal interest in the residents' welfare. The manager and carer have given me and my co-attorney every assistance in our dealings with them. They and their staff are a credit to the company.
Heatherton House accepted my Dad as a permanent resident at very short notice when his personal circumstances changed and he found himself without the care he needed. What would happen next for him was a very worrying time, but made much easier by the swift action of the manager and her staff in accepting Dad into their care. Since then, Dad is settling well, enjoying the home-cooked food, beginning to make new friends and building his confidence in a new environment. One of my main concerns was around Dad’s complex health needs but I can only praise the staff for their diligent response to the daily challenges he faces, seeking medical aid as soon as this is needed and always erring on the side of caution. The kindness and patience shown to Dad can not be underestimated and he very much appreciates their willingness to promote as much independence as possible. What could have been a very difficult time for him has been made that much smoother. Thank you to the manager and her caring team.
My mother has been in the care home now for 4 months. I was extremely pleased with the welcome she received, how well she has settled in, and the day-to-day care she has. The staff are all lovely and very helpful.
From the moment you park up looking at the beautiful gardens and then walking into the home's secure reception area you know what a wonderful place this is going to be. You are always met with a friendly, happy smile from all of the staff. They are considerate and caring towards both the residents and visitors, taking into account the resident's individual needs and requirements, and are always there to chat about anything that may arise for the resident, never too busy to stop, listen and help. The food is top-class, healthy and nutritious. The home is extremely clean and being new has lots of extra amenities, onsite hairdressers, a cinema which shows a live singer twice weekly. In addition to the large dining and lounge areas it has smaller sitting areas where the residents and visitors can sit in private. Gone are the days of sitting in one big circle here! The staff sit amongst the residents, chat and laugh. The bedrooms are immaculate. It is like a 5-star hotel. It is an exceptional caring home
Heatherton House is a wonderful environment. The facilities are second to none and the staff are all so friendly, helpful and caring. It has the feeling of a top-rated hotel. Keep up the fantastic work!
Wow - what a beautiful home. My Nan and Grandad both joined Heatherton House as a couple and were welcomed with open arms in June 2023. Unfortunately, my Grandad passed away late last year peacefully at Heatherton House. With my Nanna having Alzheimer's and being with my Grandad for over 60 years, this has taken a lot of adjusting for her. Heatherton House really has given her the TLC she needed, the staff go above and beyond, and really take the time and effort to ensure residents make great friends and feel like one big family. Whenever I go in, Nanna has got a huge smile on her face, sat with all her new friends. This home did help my Nanna and Grandad when they needed it most, and I will forever be grateful for the family I have gained at Heatherton House. Oh and not forgetting them allowing the little dog to be an asset to the Heatherton House family!
I wish I could give Heatherton House and all of the team more stars! Heatherton House went above and beyond when I needed urgent respite for my mum. Mum had a silent heart towards the end of October 2023 as well as being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s as such me and the hospital weren't happy releasing Mum back to her family home where her late husband, my dad passed away that very same year. After a morning call with the manager and team, they told me they would have a room ready for Mum later that day. From then on we have never looked back. Mum is now a fully-fledged resident. Mum has gone from being reclusive and almost giving up to engaging in most activities the home offers as well as enjoying completing jigsaws and going to the in-house cinema. Mum gained a healthy weight and enjoys having her hair cut and styled every week. Heatherton House feels like a big family now and a second home for me and my brother. Thank you.
For a 2 week convalescence after a fall and new hip, this was a perfect temporary home where family and friends were welcomed warmly by staff. As they had vacancies it was simple to be accepted. Staff so responsive to all my needs, allowing me to become more independent after a few days. Cups of tea and reassurance during the night was no trouble. My room and en suite wet room was very comfortable, with housekeeping and laundry efficient and friendly. Reassuring to have medical support when needed, I felt secure and cared for. Meals were mostly excellent, with however a long wait when seated in the dining room for table service. Plates often cold so food cooled quickly. Generous cooked breakfasts available with a choice of lunch and tea on a good 4-week rota. Supper served too. We could eat in our room or the dining room. Fresh fruit served often. I'm unconvinced by the accuracy of sweets suitable for diabetics, but staff took care to help diabetics choose wisely. A genuine Thank you.
I am very happy with how Dad has settled into Heatherton House. The staff are warm and caring and the atmosphere relaxed. The home is spotlessly clean. The food is great, Dad looks forward to the freshly cooked meals, and there is a lot of variety. Residents are well looked after health-wise. Staff are great with medications, and attention paid to conditions such as diabetes and skin health. Dad always has a glass of water kept topped up in his room. The home runs regular social events and activities. The Christmas programme was amazing.
My husband was in Heatherton House for a week's respite care, the first time he had been in anywhere. I went to look around and thought what a lovely place it was. It was easy to organise respite and the management was very thorough in their assessment process. I was able to take him to look around and the staff talked to him to make him feel comfortable about coming in. On the day he went in they took time to settle him as well as reassuring me. During his stay, I spoke to family and friends who had visited him. They were all really impressed with everything to do with the home. When I fetched him home it was easy to tell that he had enjoyed his stay and the staff had everything ready for me. I will definitely use Heatherton House when I go away again.
