View Full Details of Tantallon HouseOur mum was quite poorly when she arrived into Tantallon house after spending one month in ERI .. the staff were very caring and treated mum with dignity nothing was too much trouble .. We as a family took comfort that mum had the best care possible in the last few weeks of her life.
The Care team at Tantallon House are amazing. They keep us updated about Mum's care and every time that we visit it is clear that they have a good interactive relationship with her. She is happy and feels.."At Home!!" it is like being in a Five Star Hotel.
Staff have shown compassion, patience and kindness while mum settles and adjusts to her new surroundings. During this period, staff have been quick to respond to any queries or issues which were raised. As staff get to know Mum, they are understanding how best to provide the care that Mum requires whilst maintaining her dignity. Tantallon House is a bright and spacious care home which feels welcoming for residents and visitors.
My mother moved into Tantallon House from hospital on 15th November. The transfer went smoothly and she has settled into the residence well. The staff have been very helpful and kind. Mum is always well-dressed and comfortable. She is unable to get out of bed due to general weakness from advanced cancer. I am very pleased with her care.
Mum has been a resident for over 4 weeks and we are so pleased we chose Tantallon House. Whilst this is a huge adjustment for Mum the staff have been so kind and caring, reassuring me and my family.
My husband spent the last 6 weeks of his life at Tantallon House, where he was treated with incredible care and compassion. The staff went above and beyond, not only for him but for our entire family, giving us support and space to be by his side in his final days. Choosing a place for a loved one's final weeks or months is such a difficult decision, but as a family, we are grateful to have had Tantallon House on our doorstep. We couldn't have chosen a more comforting, caring place for him.
My husband was in Tantallon House for two and a half months before he passed away. His care was excellent and his care workers and activity staff were very professional and caring. Myself and the family could not have asked for a better home for him to have been in.
I cannot speak highly enough of the staff. Both the carers and nursing staff were highly professional, thoughtful, kind and eased a very difficult family process. They were second to none in my father's last days, and showed great compassion; my family and I are highly appreciative. The home itself is a lovely environment, my father was very comfortable there. Thank you to all the staff.
Tantallon House is absolutely amazing. Brought my mum in November 2023, all staff are lovely, very helpful and nothing is a problem. The care home is spotless and no smell that you usually get in care homes.
Following a fall, my mother's care needs changed dramatically. The manager at Tantallon was superb at finding a room and expediting the entry assessment at short notice. Having been a resident for around a month now, the whole experience for Mum has been super. The smaller communities grouped around each corridor provide greater familiarity with surroundings and the opportunity to make friends more easily. The staff are all very friendly and take a personal interest in the residents. As her broken ankle has improved, Mum has increasingly been getting involved in a variety of activities that are organised, including day trips out, so she is enjoying a more sociable life than before moving into Tantallon. The family has been very happy with the way in which Mum is being looked after and enjoy tremendous flexibility in going in and out for visits, which are welcomed by the staff.
Have found the staff in North Berwick excellent to date. My mother went in March. The staff are lovely and caring as is the management. It is a lovely clean well-kept care home. The office has an open-door policy which is excellent. I always feel very comfortable going into the office if I need to see about anything is an excellent manager. The events manager and her team are great and try to get everyone to participate if they are able to do so. If I can be constructive about something and this relates to all the care homes. It would be very good if there could be some evening activities for the residents who are able. It is a long night when they have finished their evening meal to just go back and sit in their rooms. Even getting them into a lounge, area where they can chat and have social interaction would be good. I have spoken in the passing to some other people who were visiting and they would also be happy to see this happening.
Brilliant place! Life-changing for my mum who's made good friends with fellow residents and staff alike! Facilities are great and feels like we've been made to feel part of the family in such a short space of time. Highly recommended.
My father has been resident at Tantallon House since last August. He had a few difficulties settling in but the staff were very helpful in moving him. After going through the challenging start-up phase, particularly staffing levels, they are now growing a strong and caring team. The bedrooms and communal areas are beautifully decorated and residents are able to personalise their rooms with pictures, photos and favourite furniture. My father enjoys his meals in the dining room and the tea and cakes during the day. The activities staff organise varied trips to local cafes, gardening, birthday teas, films in the cinema and themed days with music and meals. My father enjoys these and loves the morning chair-yoga. All the staff on his floor are friendly and attentive and welcoming to my father and his visitors (including the family dog). All in all, we are delighted to have found Tantallon House and it is proving to be the perfect place for my father - now in his 90's.
My dad is a fairly new resident and is settling in well thanks to the staff who are very kind and compassionate. They have been very responsive when we have had questions and have followed up any requests. The management seem to be really making positive changes and putting things in place to enhance the social aspects of the home. The actual building and rooms are lovely. There are so many options and spaces to suit everyone. As a family visitor I feel very welcome and that my views are respected. Thanks so much for all your care.
Mum moved in end of December and after a bit of confusion regarding room allocation was finally moved to the correct room but still had to pay price for dearer room that she was put in to begin with that we did not agree with, this has still not been resolved. Name badges on staff members would help residents/families.
I would like to express a massive thanks for the support from the manager and her team at Tantallon House in getting my brother-in-law a place he could call home. It was a big ask, as he had requested if he could stay at the same home his mother was in. I felt that this was really important to him. They were outstanding in the manner it was done. His wishes and care have been person-centred around him. He has settled in well, he tells me that he has breakfast every morning with his mum and daily games of dominoes. These things are massive to him. The staff on Tantallon Ward are polite and caring. We would like to say thank you.
My grandmother has been a resident at Tantallon House, Morar for 6 months. I am extremely happy with the level of care she receives and how outstanding the staff are. The home is very clean and the facilities are great. My grandmother loves living here, a new lease of life for her.
I was in this home for a week's respite after 2 weeks in hospital. I strongly objected to paying for 2 weeks when I only wanted one but the management were insistent on this. In general, I was happy with my stay. The staff were pleasant and caring and the facilities were good. Some of the staff couldn't speak very good English but got there in the end! The food was very basic and rather disappointing. There was little variety (too much broccoli) and no finesse (no sauces etc), and the evening meals were served far too early (5 pm).
My dad has been in Tantallon House for over a year now and I'd just like to say how wonderful the carers are. They are kind, attentive, caring and as much as they can with the shortage of staff at times, make sure my dad is looked after very well, is comfortable and his needs are met. In particular, a staff member has been a constant in his life since his time at Tantallon Hall. She is an absolutely brilliant carer and takes her job to another level of commitment. She has great rapport with my dad and he really enjoys their chats. I have seen her with many residents and she knows each individual so well and takes time with them all, knowing exactly how to speak to each one and how to care for their individual needs. I would also like to mention the other staff who care for dad and another staff member who is doing a special project with him about his life, to give him some 1 on 1 time as he is rarely out of bed these days. The home is a lovely place though more staff are needed to meet the needs of the residents.
I have just spent two weeks of respite care at Tantallon House following an operation and found their care to be excellent. The building itself is pleasant, spacious and relaxing and the staff are very helpful and caring. Meals are good, all diets being catered for. There was a very good range of activities and outings to cater for all types of illness. Visitors are welcome and small parties of relations can be arranged on request. Overall, my experience of the home was very good, although jolly good, staffing is a problem.
