View Full Details of The Oaks Care HomeI can wholeheartedly recommend The Oaks The fabric of the building (and the rooms ) is fresh and modern and generally kept in excellent order ( full marks to all domestic staff). But, as comforting as this is, it is people who care, and it is the staff who make a care home. The friendly, helpful and empathetic staff at The Oaks help to make my Mother's residency there as pleasant and comfortable as can be, giving me peace of mind that she is being well looked after at all times. Management, Carers, Kitchen staff, Domestic and Laundry staff are all so busy, but do their utmost to spend as much time with her as their demanding schedules will allow and all chat with Mum whenever they can which I greatly appreciate. I am present almost every day, and can vouch that the level of care is of a consistently high standard.
It is always a pleasure to walk into The Oaks. The entrance is spacious and welcoming. The same is true of the first floor where my wife currently resides. All the staff are polite and friendly. They are neatly turned out but some omit their name tags. My wife's room is adequate but nit cozy. I don't see the personal care in action but my wife is happy with it. The carers take great pains to see that she eats her meals. They also chatter cheerfully to her. I think that her cognitive ability is improving largely thanks to this.
Most of the staff are friendly and appear to want to care. However not all appear to understand that my Mother can't get out of her chair, so to leave things 'out of reach' is not helpful, and neither is just leaving her laundry out. I also appreciate how difficult my Mother can be.
The staff are welcoming and caring. Mum is safe and well looked after. I am kept informed about her health status. The home is kept clean and Mum's room is warm and spacious.
From the first days of my mother and father's residence at The Oaks they were treated with care, respect and dignity. Even during the COVID epidemic the Oaks staff carried out their care duties to the letter. My mother was a resident between January 2020 until December 2022 and my father was a resident between January 2020 until December 2024 so that's quite a period of time for them to be looked after. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone seeking high-quality services for their loved ones.
My grandmother was very much not the type of person at all to ever end up in a care home, she was reluctant all her life. Due to local reviews, The Oaks was the only one she would ever consider going to. We were very worried that she would want to come out soon because of her character, but since she has been there, she has never wanted to leave. The standard of care is excellent, and she continuously says that she cannot pick any faults with The Oaks at all. We are very grateful to all the staff there for looking after her so well.
From the day my nan came to The Oaks we all as a family were welcomed into their open arms. I visited Nan in her new home twice a week, different days and different times, every time my nan was very well cared for by all the staff. Nan was only there for just over 6 months before she passed, the exceptional care that Nan received during her end-of-life care was second to none. Some of the staff members even came into the home on their days off, that made us know as a family how much they cared for Nan and how well they looked after her on the days we weren't there. We were able to come and go as we pleased when Nan became end of life, we basically moved in for a couple of nights it was great. After trying the food it is beautiful. Not like school dinners like I first thought, it's full of flavour and always looked very appealing! But honestly thank you all on floor two I will miss you all, you've been amazing. Thank you for looking after my nanny when me and grandad couldn't anymore.
I may be biased, but my grandmother is one of the most incredible women I know. After visiting The Oaks, I can take comfort in the fact that she is treated as that. The staff are beautiful and personable. The food is great and facility is clean and welcoming.
I have been visiting Mum at The Oaks for two to three years from Australia. As hard as it is coming and going it does provide comfort to me knowing the home takes such good care of Mum. She is as happy as she can be.
Amazed at the care given to our family member who is a resident at The Oaks Newtown. The staff undertake a difficult job with empathy and an ever-changing environment. Always helpful and good communication from all at The Oaks.
The care my son had at The Oaks after a bad stroke at the age of 50 years was excellent and all the staff were friendly and helpful.
I stayed at The Oaks for 5 months. A lovely new home where the staff were all caring and friendly.
Difficult transition for my stepfather over the last 6 months, after spending a long period in the hospital. He is safely cared for and looked after well. The staff are kind and friendly and nothing a problem, spending time with him for his needs. Updates and communication is very good. Nice to see staff working hard and with a sense of humour at the right time.
Overall we find the care home good at the moment but dinners for Mum are not that good. I have to fetch more gravy every time I am here after telling them about it. Mum seems to be happy here so that's all that we want for her.
Excellent nursing and support care received by my wife for the few weeks she was there. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and supportive, especially the lead nurse. Overall the building was clean, tidy, and well maintained with good facilities.
The home I think is the best I have come into contact with. Always plenty of biscuits and cake etc. Always lovely and warm. The staff are always helpful and kind. I have no idea about price but there is always something put on for the residents. Well done.
The family had their doubts about dad coming into The Oaks, and I visited with 2 sons to meet staff and look around. I had already met the Manager who I found very friendly and informative. We found the residents looked content, only one said she would prefer not to be there! The staff were friendly and helpful. The home is modern and very clean and warm. I have visited frequently since he came to live here, often around mealtime. The choice of meals, fresh cooked always smells delicious and my husband eats well. He is encouraged to join in the variety of occupations from craft and painting etc to live musical entertainment, which I have attended and was very good. Encouraged, not forced to attend. In the warmer weather, there are lovely accessible gardens to enjoy tea and cake, with family members or just on your own if you wish. My family and I, couldn't be happier with the home and care he gets. Very many thanks.
My friend spent the last three months of his life in the Oaks, as his cancer meant that he could not be in his own home. The staff were friendly, understanding and compassionate. As a visitor, I was able to come and go at any time and get to know the staff which meant I could ask for assistance when needed.
There was a good safety procedure upon entering The Oaks, ensuring we signed in and code-protected doors. My mother-in-law was well-dressed and had just finished her lunch, we went to the church service where she enjoyed the singing and prayers. Upon going back upstairs to her room, which was clean and tidy, she was taken to the bathroom before resting for the afternoon. The staff at The Oaks are friendly and caring towards residents each time we visit, overall this home is meeting all our expectations.
Just want to praise the staff and management for the excellent care of my mother and the smooth organisation of running The Oaks Newtown.
