View Full Details of The Wharf Care HomeOn the whole my relative was cared for. At times elements of care were sadly lacking depending on various factors affecting the home that day e.g. staffing, other residents, events on that day. I would have liked my relatives spiritual needs to be considered more. I often felt, particularly at weekends the ratio of staff to residents was insufficient, making it a different atmosphere. The staff intentions were well meaning. My relative had there respect form wishes met at times of infection. I was consulted in regarding upholding their respect wishes. On the whole the staff understood how to manage dementia & altzheimer residents. Support for the relatives is something that should be considered by a specialist nurse. The home becomes the constant for your relative but having someone to talk to, to understand the emotions you go through when visiting is vital. The longer they are in care the more you go through, to cope with each visit.
My husband died recently at The Wharf Nursing Home. He had only been there a short time. For many months previously I had been, desperately, trying to get Social Services to accept that he needed nursing care. When he arrived at The Wharf he was enveloped with love and care. His food was good quality and adjusted to his needs, likes, and ability to eat. His room was adjusted for his safety and enjoyment and those of his visitors. The carers were kind and understanding of his condition. Sadly his dementia, suffered for many years, had finally taken its toll. We were supported in my husband's final few days by the staff. He died surrounded by care and kindness. Thank goodness we had managed to move him to 'The Wharf '. Thank you to all of the wonderful, professional, loving staff.
All the staff at The Wharf gave my father great care, time and understanding. He enjoyed the conversations and the personal time shared. I could not praise the staff more. The great effort everyone put in from his arrival and settling, all through to his passing. The Wharf have a great team and the family would love to thank every one of them.
I visited my friend of 40 years during August. He was receiving end of life care. Each time I visited I found the staff friendly and caring. The environment clean and tidy with no odours. The outside space was attractive, giving an ideal area for residents to enjoy.
My husband recently had a short stay at The Wharf. He felt very much at home and settled in really well. All staff, without exception, treated him with kindness, dignity and respect. He received his many medications on time and felt very confident calling assistance when needed. The staff were always attentive and welcoming when people visited. My husband enjoyed the freedom of being able to move around as much as he wanted, as well as the lovely food. The garden was easily accessible and provided a nice, safe, sunny space to meet visitors or other residents. He is looking forward to spending further time at The Wharf in the future.
Myself and my friend joined my mum to celebrate the VE celebrations at The Wharf. It was so lovely to be outside and listen to the singer and enjoy some food. The staff were amazing and made everyone welcome. The hospitality manager is a fantastic contribution to the home and organised it. It was great to see residents and staff enjoy and I feel a massive boost to morale.
I was extremely worried when it came to the stage when my dad needed 24-hour care and where he could end up. I viewed The Wharf for a very brief visit, then my dad moved there the same day. The staff are all amazing. What makes a great place is the people. My dad only after a few days seems very content and happy. I would not hesitate to recommend it. It has a great feel at The Wharf.
My aunt enjoyed five years immersed in the excellent Wharf environment and facilities. She was cared for by a team of caring, professional people and was truly able to live a life 'home from home'. Thank you!
My uncle was 91 years old when he was admitted into The Wharf Care Home in Stourport in April 2020. He was suffering with dementia and had restricted mobility. His stay, until he recently passed away, was 46 months as good as it could be. If I could score The Wharf more than 10/10 I certainly would as the quality of care provided was exceptional.
Great service throughout. All the staff very friendly and caring. Some of the meals a bit adventurous for my 88-year-old mother, but very willing to find something else for her to eat. The building is set up very nicely, very impressed.
Although my mother was only at The Warf for four weeks. The staff were absolutely marvelous. Everyone couldn't do enough for us and the family. Everything they said they would do they did even down to the maintenance team to put pictures on the wall. You would not find a better place for a member of your family to reside there.
The staff at The Wharf Care Home looked after my nan so well for the past six months and we are forever grateful. The staff are all very friendly and do a wonderful job for all the residents. Thank you so much for the hard work.
My mother spent nearly two weeks at The Wharf, including Xmas, which at 90 years of age was her first ever experience of staying in a care facility. Whilst being very reluctant her first encounter with the staff very soon changed this and she settled in quickly due to the happy atmosphere that prevailed. Her medication requirements were diligently administered and all her daily needs, notably the food and drink, were all of an excellent standard. Xmas was an enjoyment shared with everyone and not a lonely time in front of the T.V with failing eyesight. Whilst she was happy to leave and return to her own home, it is an experience that she shares with her carers that she has at home each day and now demands the same high levels she experienced at The Wharf. I suspect they are looking forward to her next stay so they get a break! Thank you to all keep up the good work.
Mom has been at The Wharf for four weeks now. She seems settled and comfortable. The staff are all really friendly and helpful. Mom is in a wheelchair but still enjoys being in the garden in the afternoon, especially if there are ice cream treats or banana milkshakes on offer! There is always plenty of activities and entertainment. If you are able to eat normally the food looks very good with cakes and desserts etc, unfortunately, Mom is on purée food so can’t enjoy the normal menu.
The care staff are amazing. The stay has been better than expected. Visitors are welcome at any time. The entertainment is excellent. Food let down.
Very pleasant and helpful staff. Beautifully kept home and rooms. Very good choice of meals, snacks and drinks. Two staff members, in particular, are very pleasant and polite, both should get employee of the month.
The care received was second to none. Brilliant service and you can tell that everyone truly cares for the residents. Everything was perfect.
These comments are made partly in comparison to another care home where another family member, brother, was a resident. I have been pleasantly impressed by the care and support given to my wife following a major stroke. The carers, of all ages, are flexible in their work with someone who doesn't want to be there and who suffers from mood swings. I can't imagine that she could be anywhere better in her mental condition.
My mother has had a very difficult year in step-down care after a fall. When we realised that she would not be returning home, we started looking into care homes near where we live. From our very first visit, it was obvious that The Wharf Care Home was where we wanted my mother to be, we were so impressed with everything we saw. She moved into The Wharf Care Home just before Christmas 2022 and from the moment she arrived, it was like she was welcomed into a warm and caring family. The quality of the residence, staff, food and the general feel of the place is amazing. Mum is now settling in well and the kindness and attentiveness of the care staff seem to be helping her be more positive about the future after such a traumatic year. Thank you to all at The Wharf Care Home for welcoming us into your extended family.
The Wharf Care Home takes fantastic care of my father. They continually strive to provide great care and make improvements wherever they see the need. They all now feel like part of our extended family.
