I highly recommend Thorpe Wood Care Home. While the cleanliness is good, the quality of the food excellent, the activities varied and expertly given, what really sets it apart is the quality of all the team. Everyone is exceptional - the chefs, the cleaners, the activities coordinators, the admin team, the care and nursing teams. All staff showed respect to the residents and to each other, there is a calmness and an atmosphere of support, and fun. A real community. My sister and I knew that our brother was surrounded by caring, friendly and familiar faces during his final days, making him comfortable and secure. A huge and heartfelt thank you.

I would highly recommend Thorpe Wood Care Home. The building is modern and clean, the bedrooms are spacious and the communal kitchen/lounge area is perfect for residents to relax and socialise. The garden is beautiful and peaceful. The best thing about Thorpe Wood Care Home is the staff, they genuinely cared about my grandma, always treated her with dignity and were friendly and welcoming to visiting family and friends. Thank you to all the staff that kept my grandma comfortable at the end of her life, she said you are all great and work really hard.

Thorpe Wood Care Home took care of our father back in 2021, only for twelve days after poor care at another care home. There was no hesitation when we had to put Mum into a care home in September 2023. This home is amazing, the love care and support they show the residents is just above and beyond. It actually moved us to tears when we first viewed. On many occasions, we’ve watched how endearing the staff are here, not only do they look after your loved ones, they look after you on every visit too. We could never thank them enough for taking care of our mother and father in their dying days, you are such special people. Thank you Thorpe Wood staff, you are all amazing people.

It was a very hard decision to put our beautiful mum into a care home but after the great respect they gave to our poor father and care they gave him, was no hesitation to put Mum into Thorpe Wood Care Home. She was treated with the utmost respect, kindness, love support and help from all carers, from management to the owners. All gave 100% to our lovely mum, could not ask for better service. Thank you very much.

I cannot sing this place's praises any louder. The care is excellent. The building and the rooms are beautiful. The staff are the loveliest and most genuine people ever. Both of my grandparents have passed away in this place. Most recently, my grandma on Sunday. Every day they dressed her and it was the little details that meant the most to us, they would put in her earrings and make sure she had necklaces on, the things we used to forget as a family. When we weren’t there, staff would sit with her, speak to her and treat her the way you want your family to be treated. This is a care home. It was a home for her where she was cared for in a way we are so thankful for. They have made losing two of the most important people to us an easier experience. I cannot thank them enough.

My husband was cared for at Thorpewood Care Home from August to November during his stay we found all the staff to be so caring and thoughtful to him and all the family. It made his stay so much more bearable during this difficult time.

My father recently passed away after being with Thorpe Wood for a few months. To secure a place here for him after visiting many care homes in the area, was perfect and at just the right time. The staff have been amazing, from the moment he arrived, he was treated with the utmost respect and given the best care to support his needs. He was losing weight and muscle so quickly and had been depriving himself of sleep and skipping meals before, but they got him settled, managed to get him sleeping again and got him eating regularly. They supported him and our family on every occasion and escorted him to hospital appointments. When times became difficult they made sure the whole family were kept informed of everything we needed to know. The last few months were troublesome emotionally, but knowing how well they were looking after my father was a massive comfort. All the family and my father were so well supported at every moment until he passed - my thanks to every one of the staff.

I have been very happy with the management and all the staff at Thorpe Wood Care home they have looked after my mother since May 2022. When she came into the home last year mum was very frail and lost a lot of weight due to her illness. Whilst in the home the staff made sure she had milkshakes and breakfast and gradually built up her eating. Whereby mum put on weight. All of the staff were very vigilant regarding mum's health whilst at the home and were very professional in dealing with any illnesses making sure that she was taken to hospital if they were concerned. I cannot praise the staff enough for their attention and care they showed my mother. Nothing was too much trouble at any time. I regularly received feedback and contact with all the staff who reassured me if I had any concerns. I decided to move my mother closer to where I live as we are able to visit her now regularly and involve her more in our lives, but made in the best interest and wishes of my mother. Thank you all.

I made the right choice! Everyone loves their Mom and wants the best for her and Thorpe Wood has done that, not only for her but for the rest of the family too. Warm, welcoming, friendly, accommodating, a listening ear, helpful and above all caring and wanting the best for their service users and their families, dementia not only affects 1 person it is the whole family. Thorpe Wood has all of those qualities. I am looking forward to many happy, content and caring times ahead with my mom. Thank you Thorpe Wood.

My dearly loved mother-in-law has recently passed away at Thorpe Wood Care Home. Even as we are missing her so much, I feel I must just publicly say how wonderful her care has been during her four years of residence. Mum was the second resident to move to Thorpe Wood, having toured the building and selected her room whilst decorating and other work was still being completed. Many of the staff have been with her since those early days and have become like a second family. Mum said she felt ‘at home’ - who could ask for anything more. Her final days were spent in the nursing wing of the home where her care continued to be based on her needs and wishes. The staff took such care of us as a family too, from the endless cups of tea, plates of biscuits and sandwiches to a care basket for us to use and hugs whenever we needed them. We cannot recommend the family at Thorpe Wood highly enough. Thank you for being part of our lives.

My mother entered this home with a view to long-term dementia care. Sadly, an illness meant she quickly deteriorated and we lost her relatively quickly. The care given to her at all stages was absolutely exemplary. She was treated with respect and dignity and every single member of the team spent time getting to know her and us, as her family. Nothing was too much trouble and the kindness shown was extraordinary. I would recommend this care home to anyone.

This care home was amazing, the staff were so informative, caring, kind and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. As a family, we would recommend Thorpe Wood to anyone that needs care which can not be provided in the home. We would like to thank everybody who looked after our Aunt.

My mother-in-law was a resident at Thorpe Wood for almost 3 years. The staff are so kind and made her feel really at home. Prior to the pandemic, we could visit whenever we liked and stay as long as we wanted to. We were made to feel very welcome and always kept informed of any changes to Mum’s condition. The facilities are like a 5* hotel and immaculately clean. The standard of food and entertainment is very good. Mum passed away with dignity at Thorpe Wood in January 2022.

Thorpe Wood Care Home cared for my husband for 2 and a half years before his death in May 2022. He had Parkinson's Disease but was then diagnosed with DLB (Dementia with Lewy Bodies). After I was no longer able to care for him at home, the staff and management at Thorpe Wood did an excellent job of both caring for him and physically supporting him as his condition progressed and he was increasingly unable to do anything for himself. The day-to-day management of his condition was made possible by a dedicated and experienced staff and by an excellent management team who had the added job of keeping residents safe during Covid.

When my sister arrived in Thorpe Wood she had been neglecting herself but after a few weeks she had put weight on as the staff gave her extra food, she even enjoyed a sandwich during the night. My sister was in the home for two years and the staff showed her care and love. When my sister became palliative care and after a priest visited and told the staff she liked to say her prayers, the receptionist typed the Lord’s Prayer out and laminated it so it could be by her bedside and when I used to ring up. I was told by the nurse that they said the prayer with her. I know that would have been a great comfort to my sister. During the pandemic, the home did their utmost to allow us to see our relative. My friend arrived in the care home after been discharged from hospital. My friend was also in this care home for two years before passing away. Many times she told me she was happy and liked living there. She was a happy and friendly person but unfortunately towards the end she became difficult but the staff still showed her love, care and dignity. The staff always communicated with me keeping me update to date with her care which was important during Covid.

Throughout my mother's time at Thorpe Wood; the care that she was given was superb. Sadly she passed away last week after many months of declining health but in this difficult time everyone at Thorpe Wood. Always did their utmost to look after her, and they showed great warmth and compassion. The home is a bright, cheerful, well designed and spotless place, and all the staff are so friendly. Any visitor can see how well they engage with the residents. The communications from the home were exemplary, and the staff have coped magnificently with the terrible crisis that Covid-19 has presented. My sister and I will miss visiting Thorpe Wood. I cannot speak too highly of the home; it is a lovely place.

I can't praise this care home enough for all the care and kindness given to my mother in the last 4 months of her life. The building, facilities, food, accommodation is all first class. The staff whether it be the carers, admin, kitchen or cleaning staff all were so friendly, helpful and treated my mother with the utmost dignity. Yes, the fees would appear high but when you see what is provided you can appreciate they are value for money and certainly lower than some care homes.

Every member of staff treats my mother with kindness, patience and compassion. The activities are varied, the management team know the residents individually and they tailor the care to suit the individuals. I would recommend Thorpe Wood to anyone, it is an exceptional care home.
