View Full Details of Twyford House Care HomeIt's basically solitary confinement in the evenings... Daytime things seem OK in terms of activities, etc, but everything stops after 6PM and residents are effectively left to their own devices. Minimal evening staff and no visitors come (you'll sometimes be waiting 10 mins + to get in then, too). Dad sits alone in his room for hours in the evenings with no entertainment (the TV control is complex) and no one looking in. We've been there numerous times without the staff seeing us arrive and the only time someone will look in on him is when it's time for a quick and perfunctory visit to give him his meds. There's no app or portal to see how relatives are doing and getting on. Apparently, there are trips out each week but no way to know where they're going to or even if your loved one went. Raised these issues and am still waiting (a week later) for a reply from management. Overall: looks great in the brochure but find somewhere else unless your loved ones are pretty independent.
My sister was admitted into the care home while her husband went on a cruise so she was in for respite. She has dementia whereby she can't feed, wash, toilet herself or walk unaided. She wasn't given enough fluids so her eldest daughter had to phone an ambulance because she was highly dehydrated and spent the rest of the time in the hospital with IV drips. My question is why didn't the so-called trained staff see this, it's beyond belief. We were told they could cater for my sister's needs and it was clearly not the case.
Generally good. Too many staff changes. Too few activities at present, good activity staff left. Good activities last year.
I visit my in-laws with my wife. I was apprehensive about care homes having no experience. This care home is very well presented and is hotel-like in its decor. The staff are always so friendly and respectful even when it is clear they are very busy. The care and respect they give to my parents-in-law is always wonderful and much appreciated.
Hardworking and professional staff. Very friendly. People are quick to complain. I asked the manager if I could review as I have been so impressed. It is a difficult time when parents go into care however the home is so well run it is reassuring. My mother and father were admitted as residents at the same time, unfortunately. The quality of care is excellent. The home is very clean, communication is as good as it gets. The facilities and activities package is very good however my parents have yet to take part in these. The only suggestion I could make is that there’s a leaflet/some information available to families/residents on arrival regarding visiting, what you can bring in to family members, labelling of clothes, what happens with washing etc. We could most of this out by chance/asking so it would be useful. I did ask however it appears there’s nothing available. Other than this the home should be recognised for the high standards, and quality of care that all staff provide.
Dad went in for respite care. Staff have been fantastic with all going the extra mile. Fantastic home.
From the time I entered the premises I was treated with warmth and kindness. The staff treated me as a person and not just a number. I cannot speak too highly of the staff who were excellent in all aspects such as serving meals or helping in a time of need. I was rather anxious before I went into the home but very quickly all fears were dispelled.
My aunt has been at Twyford House for a year. Yesterday was her 107th birthday and the staff put on a wonderful celebration. Thanks to everyone.
The staff there are wonderful. Everyone had worked hard to make certain my father had exceptional care, nutrition, exercise etc.
Such an amazing home. Made Christmas so special for each and every resident. The staff are an absolute credit to the home. Couldn’t recommend this care home any higher, nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff. Superb.
Mum has been a resident for eighteen months. Having seen other care homes in close detail, I would say it is so difficult for any care home to be perfect and is unrealistic. However, this home operates with residents’ well-being and safety at the forefront of its existence. All staff are always pleasant and approachable and will find ways to deal with any query we may have. They maintain relationships with families and work at achieving a beneficial outcome. Mum is settled and loves the food - and gradually joining in more activities with the staff's encouragement. Facilities are excellent, and standards of cleaning are high..yes there are little blips but nowhere is perfect. I would highly recommend Twyford House Care Home.
Mum moved into the home a couple of months ago following a number of planned and unplanned visits. No matter when we arrived we were made to feel special and welcomed by staff, all of whom knew our names and took an interest in mum. Once we had agreed on the move, things happened quickly and we were kept informed at each stage. After she had moved, the staff were wonderful, they made her feel very welcome, encouraged her to take part in the activities whilst respecting her wishes and made sure all her needs were met. During December, there were lovely activities where most of the residents were involved. The meals over Christmas and New Year were lovely and the staff made an extra effort with the tables, presentation etc.
I love to lead the singing on a Friday afternoon. We have sung over 30 different songs during 2023. I am always made so welcome and love getting to know so many of the residents. There is a lovely comfortable and pleasant atmosphere at Twyford.
Respected, safer and welcoming
My aunt and uncle were struggling to keep safe at home. After a prolonged spell in hospital for my aunt, they both decided that it would be a good idea to convalesce at Twyford House Care Home. They loved it so much, they decided to stay. They are always treated with the utmost dignity and respect. The workers there really care for the well-being of them both. I am always given a warm welcome whenever I visit and they keep me informed if there are any important changes in the health/wellbeing of either aunt or uncle. Twyford for me is an extension of my family now. In addition, they have a wonderful activities programme, designed to keep the residents thinking and moving, involving day trips to local places and seaside trips too. My aunt and uncle tell me regularly that they feel cared for and safe there, and although they miss their previous life as independent people, they realise that, actually, they're receiving a much better quality and more stimulating life there.
Amazing home with lovely staff Clean and welcoming Very happy with the care my Aunty recieves We are made welcome whenever we turn up Overall very happy with the care my aunt recieves and her relationship with staff
This is the most caring home I ever been to staff are excellent and so caring would highly recommend it to anyone room is excellent and my dad says the food is excellent they can’t do enough for my dad and our family.
The appearance of the home is stunning but what matters more is what is happening behind the gloss in residential homes, this place has a solid depth of care and dedication from staff who you know instantly genuinely care about how they assist your loved ones. This home keeps residents entertained and active and proactively assists when issues can be difficult for elderly who can feel loneliness or sadness. I know my mum is safe and genuinely happy and although she is only staying for a while Twyford House have made a positive effect on her health.
Best care home for miles around. Excellent staff and facilities. Cannot believe how much my father has improved during his time at Twyford House Care Home. Father is very happy here after some bad experiences. Complete home from home.
Beautiful care home with really lovely staff. My grandad is the happiest I’ve seen him since my nana passed away in November. Good to see him up and out of his room, socialising with other residents. Thank you.
