View Full Details of Ty Cariad Dementia Care CentreI was extremely pleased with the care my husband received. He was always made comfortable and was always clean. The staff were always friendly, and helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble and someone was always on hand to make a cup of tea. The home was always spotlessly clean. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to anyone. Thank you to all the staff for everything.
My dad spent 3 years and 2 months at Ty Cariad. Prior to his admission I visited lots of care homes to inspect the facilities and talk to the management. No other care home in the area came close to what Ty Cariad could offer in terms of professionalism. patient well-being and facilities, besides the fact that it is a modern newly purpose-built facility which was spotlessly clean at all times. I found the management to be very approachable, fully understanding of my dad's needs as they specialise and fully understand dementia as that is Ty Cariad's main speciality and focus. The team, particularly the carers, are trained and encouraged to bond with the patients, forming friendships and therapeutic relationships that benefited my dad's outcome and made him very happy there. At no time was anything too much trouble, which in itself is a tribute to the exemplary care offered. We trusted Ty Cariad with the care of our beloved dad and you can trust them too!
My mum moved here in March 2024 and instantly you could tell she was happier. All the staff are amazing and very caring. The food is varied and delicious. It is healthy with lots of vegetables and good quality meat. The activities are regular and interesting. We could not hope for a beer home for Mum.
My wife moved to Ty Cariad on the 27th of December 2023, following a substandard care package at another facility in the area that proved injurious to her well-being and causing her condition to deteriorate to an unacceptable level. She can be difficult at times but the staff from the managers to the care workers at Ty Cariad demonstrated effective communication which is the cornerstone of quality healthcare. The staff, particularly the carers, bond with the patients. forming therapeutic relationships that benefit patient-centred outcomes, such that my wife and our family members are more than satisfied with the quality of her care, quality of life, and her physical and mental health at this stage of her illness. Moving to Ty Cariad was the best decision we made as a family, and we thank them so much for all they do for my wife and my family; in particular three members of staff in particular who go above and beyond demonstrating a true quality of care service.
My mum came to Ty Cariad from another local home whereby she’d resided for three months and basically been left in her room with little interaction leaving her in both a poor state of mental and physical health. Mum moved to Ty Cariad in late December and settled in straight away. The staff and facilities are nothing but superb and this has allowed Mum to become as happy as expected and her physical needs have also been met. Moving to Ty Cariad was the best decision made by the family and we thank everyone there so much; especially one member of staff in particular.
Overall, my experience is good, I feel that maybe there could be more staff on duty. The questions that I ask staff are answered to the best of their ability. There are a lot worse homes out there, I do not know of any better homes than Ty Cariad Dementia Care Centre. The reception is always polite and helpful.
My mum has been a resident for 3 and a half years and on the whole, I have been very pleased with the care given to Mum. She is well looked after and well fed, although due to Mum's condition, her diet is very much the same food daily, and I would like to see some variation in the menu for her. The staff are all welcoming and personable and make me feel very much at home when I am visiting. I would like less staff rotation, allowing the staff to stay in each house for longer. I feel that this would help with continuity of care for both the residents and their families. The home is warm and clean and the laundry takes care of Mum's clothes well. The administration and reception team are always pleasant and welcoming. They know me by name and my large family, including the dog! I would like to thank Ty Cariad for all they do for Mum and my family.
My mother moved to the home just over 2 weeks ago. I really like that the home has been purpose-built - the rooms are spacious and mum has plenty of space in the lovely garden and home to move around. All the staff I've come across are friendly and caring. Mum apparently enjoys the activities (with the new Activities Co-ordinator) which I'm really pleased about. Mum can be very difficult at times but the staff don't make a big drama about it - thanks! So far, I am very pleased.
Awful management, certain members of staff and ‘nurses’. My grandmother had to be placed in Ty Cariad in September 2021 due to the family being unable to care for her following the loss of my daughter and my father within 2 months. She developed untreated sores all over which she never had in our care, ulcers in her mouth and filthy teeth when we visited due to them not taking her false teeth out to clean. When we had our visit over Christmas one of the carers made us leave abruptly in the middle of feeding her even though we had been given extended time by the manager. He spoke to us awfully, if he speaks to families like that we hate to think how he speaks to the vulnerable who cannot stand up for themselves. We sent a complaint to the local council and they met us there for a meeting with the manager. They said they wouldn't have had worries seeing her but she had been cleaned up since they knew they were attending. The manager didn't attend the meeting. She sadly passed of covid after.
When my mother first came to Ty Cariad she was not very happy and not at all affectionate, it was extremely difficult to communicate with her. She showed no interest, however, since coming to Ty Cariad, with the expert help of the carers, she is smiling, likes to be tactile and is so much happier. The carers anticipate her needs and she connects with them. Beforehand, she had awful skin tissue problems and couldn't wear slippers but now she can. The staff are absolutely brilliant.
I am delighted with the care Dad gets from all the staff at Ty Cariad Dementia Care Centre. As a family, we wanted to look after Dad ourselves but this was sadly not meant to be. I'm even grateful for the care and support that is given to us as a family at a very difficult time. My only concern is activities.
Very pleased, made me feel more relaxed that my husband has been looked after well. All staff friendly. Always looking out for all the residents. Has become a family unit for me too. Nice to have open visiting, can go anytime. Maybe could do more with interacting with residents, games or music etc. Does have two people who are supposed to be there but never seen them.
Ty Cariad is a purpose built dementia care home. There is a beautiful garden area where residents and relatives can sit or wander safely. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and bright with lots of communal space and sitting areas. There is even an indoor bus stop. The best thing about Ty Cariad, however, is the person centred compassionate care given to each resident.
Amazing. The care our parents received was simply wonderful. They were at all times treated with love, respect and dignity. I only wish that Ty Cariad was the 'norm' rather than the exception in EMI care.
