View Full Details of West Hill Care HomeSadly, my father was unable to return home after a long spell in hospital. West Hill Care Home has proved to be a home away from home for him. All of the team from reception staff, care staff, nursing staff, housekeeping staff and managment have shown themselves to be warm, welcoming and respectful towards my father and all his family. The facilities at West Hill Care Home are clean modern yet give a homely touch. There are always organised activities going on which my father can enjoy. We as a family have nothing but praise for everyone.
West Hill is a wonderful place. The staff are always friendly, caring and helpful. The staff are also informative. West Hill is clean and tidy and very well run and organised. The menu is varied and healthy. The staff are also good at communicating any issues and they are always dealt with efficiently and effectively.
From the initial home assessment and transition everything has been made as stress free and caring for Mum's comfort. Her room is large, light, clean and homely. The communal rooms are welcoming and comfortable. All the staff are focused on providing an excellent level of care. Mum enjoys her meals and the entertainment staff keep residents happy and as busy as they wish. The staff manage all Mum's medications and the GP visits inhouse which is a huge relief and help. As a family we couldn't be happier with West Hill Care Home and it gives us the peace of mind much needed for Mums wellbeing.
I'm deeply grateful for the wonderful care my grandmother received at West Hill Care Home. The staff were incredibly attentive, ensuring she was always comfortable and well looked after. They checked in on her frequently, making her feel cared for and valued. She was provided with substantial and nourishing meals, which we greatly appreciated. West Hill specialises in dementia care, which my grandmother struggled with, so staff were well equipped and prepared for dealing with this. The team's kindness, professionalism, and genuine warmth made all the difference during her time there. It gave us peace of mind knowing she was in such capable and loving hands - especially when we couldn't always be there to visit. Thank you to everyone at West Hill for the outstanding care you provided.
My grandad has been in care with West Hill Care Home for the past 4-5 years. The quality of care has been outstanding - the attention to detail from the nurses is great. When I visit my grandad, I often notice the proactive initiative and attentiveness shown by the nurses to frequently check in on Grandad and to provide food / drink / medicines when required. The nurses go above and beyond, it is clear that all staff are being managed effectively.
West Hill Care Home is clean, well-managed and able to talk sensibly about the care they can provide. The rooms do not feel cramped and there are many communal areas, all well-kept and appointed. This is the best in my five care home experience.
Mum was at West Hill for just over 3 months (July - October 2024). It was intended as a permanent move, but there were a number of things that happened with her care whereby we felt that she had to move as we were spending as much time with the home managers as we were with Mum. There was not much interaction with care staff generally, but there were a handful of excellent and friendly staff (I gather we cannot name them - which is a shame). Staffing was sometimes an issue and training needs identified. On the positive side, Mum did love the entertainment, and the events team were really good. NB If at any time you are awarded Funded Nursing Care, this does not get deducted from the quoted fees. This was not made clear to us when we signed the contract. This essentially meant that the home received an additional £235 pw for the same level of care. We felt that this should have been explained to us up front so that we understood the true fees.
West Hill has exceeded our expectations. Mum is happy and comfortable, in a safe caring environment. All the staff are extremely professional and go the extra mile. The building and rooms are modern, spacious and exceptionally clean. The management team have been extremely helpful and supportive to the needs of our mum and her family. A special mention to the activities team, they are just great.
My husband was treated very well by each and every one.
On the occasions I was fortunate enough to visit my grandmother at West Hill, I was consistently impressed by the level of care and attention provided. The staff were not only attentive and kind but also incredibly generous, often offering us tea during our visits. Their genuine care for the residents was clear, as they seemed to have meaningful, personal relationships with my grandmother, treating her with warmth and familiarity. Their respect and dignified approach extended to us as well, ensuring we felt welcome. The home itself was clean, spacious, and well-maintained, with several comfortable rooms where residents could relax, eat, or socialise. Everything was thoughtfully organised, creating an environment where both residents and visitors could feel at ease. Every staff member we met was dedicated and compassionate. The other residents were lovely too, adding to the positive atmosphere. I recommend West Hill for its uniquely sensitive and caring environment.
I was very impressed with the staff at West Hill Care Home. They came across as superbly kind and compassionate. Many of them had very personal relationships with my Grandmother which was very touching to see.
My nan, who has progressive dementia, has been unsettled for years despite moving to different care settings. Since coming to West Hill, however, I've never seen her more at ease. The food is great, the place is spotless, but what really stands out is the team of people who work there. The management, in particular, have shown a genuine duty of care toward my nan. After seeing how well she's settled, we've arranged for her to stay there full-time, and we couldn't be happier. West Hill is more than just a care home - it's a place where the staff truly make a difference. I can't recommend it highly enough.
My husband's nan was admitted to West Hill after a bad fall in September, initially placed in an assessment bed while her care needs were evaluated. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how spacious, modern, and clean the home was - honestly felt more like a hotel. The reception staff were incredibly welcoming, and the personalised care continued as we moved upstairs to her room, which was spacious with a private bathroom and a TV on the wall. The care she has received has been exceptional, and I cannot speak highly enough of the team at West Hill. The carers and entertainment staff go above and beyond, treating each resident as a unique individual. It's heartwarming to see the attention and kindness they show to everyone.
My father was admitted to your care home after being discharged from hospital after having a stroke. After ten minutes I knew this was going to be the place I wanted my dad to have as his home in his last sad months. I have never ever experienced so much professionalism mixed with so much love and devotion that was given to my dad. The one thing that did get me was my mum, my sister and myself were all given exactly the same amount of this as my dad was. To say it made us somewhat emotional is an understatement. Not once did I ever have a doubt that my dad wasn't being cared for so professionally. The home and every single one of the staff will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you all so very very much.
My mother is currently a resident at West Hill Care Home. The facilities are excellent, the staff are polite, friendly and professional and any little issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently. As a family we are very pleased that we were able to get our loved one into such a good establishment.
My father has been a resident now for the last 2 years and the level of care and facilities have been exceptional. The care team are attentive and nothing is ever too much for them.
This review is of my experience of visiting my sister-in-law. My experience of visiting West Hill Care Home over the last year has formed the basis of this review. The staff have all been a joy to be with, so polite, helpful and caring showing interest in my husband and my own well-being.
Our mother has been at the home since it opened. It was a very difficult decision but we needn't have been concerned as the staff are so attentive and caring towards her. Despite the language barrier and dementia, the staff still manages to communicate well and ease her anxiety and confusion. It is very reassuring to know that she is in a safe, clean and happy environment where she is treated with respect and dignity. The building is new and modern, with a beautiful outdoor garden. The central location and parking facilities help to make visitation easy too. I can highly recommend this care home and thank the staff for looking after my mother so well.
From the outset with our initial emergency need for respite care for my mother, the management was very supportive and versatile in helping us to secure care with little notice. The managers and staff were very welcoming to Mum and she appreciated that. Staff were attentive and kind to her throughout her time at West Hill and she seemed to respond particularly well to one, who was very encouraging and engaging with her and I think he made her time there much better. Although, as it turned out, these were the last weeks of her life, the care she received couldn't have been better.
Since my mother first arrived at West Hill Care Home she settled in very quickly and to date enjoys the comfort and security that is provided. The staff always show care and kindness which Mum relays to me whenever I visit. Additionally, she makes a point of saying that this is her forever home which is reassuring considering her age. Keep up the good work.
