Wood Green, Circular Road, Jordanstown, Newtownabbey, BT37 0RJ
View Full Details of Wood Green Residential Care HomeDay staff and reception are wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble. They are flexible, thoughtful and kind. The home is tirelessly decorated to connect residents with seasonal events: at present Chinese New Year. I appreciate that life is busy for managers but feel that at times issues are dismissed as minor. Carers should be treated with respect when upset and should be offered support in a quiet room; not as recently happened to me in a corridor. Dementia is a very hard illness for families with which produces lots of fear. It is hard to see your loved one losing facilities. Otherwise this is a very good home where individuals are offered a caring environment when they can no longer manage in their own homes. I would recommend it to anyone needing help with dementia.
Mum is in her first year as a resident of Wood Green. I can say no complaints about the staff and the level of care being given to Mum. All the staff have been excellent from the cleaners to the management and they are always assisting in any way they can. It is total peace of mind with the care Mum is receiving at Wood Green.
My mother recently became a resident at Woodgreen. My first impressions were good and this hasn't charged during my mother's short stay. I find staff welcoming, friendly and supportive. All staff appear happy and part of a caring community. I am overwhelmed with the kindness and respect that is shown to residents. This was a huge step for my mother but she is settling in nicely. Her anxiety levels are greatly reduced and this is down to the excellent care she receives on a daily basis from an amazing team. I am impressed with Woodgreen and would highly recommend this care home. Residents have their dignity, support when needed and always someone at hand. It's an amazing care home and I am delighted that my mother has been fortunate to have a permanent place in this amazing care home.
My mother has been a resident of Wood Green for just over 2 years. In that time all the staff have given excellent care to my mum. The home is spotlessly clean and well-kept. There are always plenty of activities for residents and the staff ensure that every major event and season is celebrated. I understand that it can be very challenging but staff members remain upbeat and happy.
Wood Green has gone above and beyond our expectations of what a residential care home offers. My Mother-in-Law goes through times of being settled and happy to unsettled and wanting to go home and the staff have been just great with her. We can call to see how she is and you are always made to feel welcome as I enjoy being part of her weeks at Wood Green. I can assure you, your family member will have the best care and be happy at Wood Green.
My mother moved into this care home in December 2024. It has been a great relief for us as a family to know she is getting fabulous 24-hour care. She has settled very well and staff have been great keeping me up to date with any changes in Mum's health etc. Very friendly welcoming staff who I have witnessed being incredibly patient and kind with residents. Thank you.
Our Mum is in her sixth year as a resident of Wood Green. As a family we can honestly say that in all of these years we have never had to complain or highlight any issues about Mum's care and wellbeing. All the staff have been excellent from the cleaners to the management and Mum is very happy there.
My Mum is being provided with an excellent level of care and is thriving in the loving and safe environment at Wood Green. I cannot speak too highly of the staff who all appear to genuinely care for and enjoy their work.
Wood Green is a very pleasant care home. It's a very modern place, also very clean. My mother is content there, most of the time, she still wants to go home but this is part of the dementia. The staff are great, I could not ask for nicer people to look after my mother. I am always made very welcome here when I visit my mother.
The staff at Wood Green are very friendly. My brother seems to be content here which is great. The garden out the back is a great addition for the residents, also the Dementia Cafe Forget Me Not where you can take your loved one and the proceeds help with the residents' comfort funds.
Mum is always very well looked after. She participates in all activities and the food is really good. The home is very well presented and is always very clean and tidy, as are the bedrooms and communal areas. The staff are very friendly and are always willing to assist. I am very happy with Mum's care. Well done to everyone.
Friendly atmosphere throughout the home. Staff are very kind and patient with residents and rooms are always fresh and clean. Concerns are usually dealt with quickly though on occasions these concerns need to be followed up. It took several weeks for a urine sample from my mother to be sent successfully to the laboratory. The problem, an administration change to lab forms, was eventually sorted and an explanation was given. I have always found management to be very approachable and ready to deal with issues promptly.
Wood Green has some excellent points, way above average in some categories but disappointing in others. The good points are the staff are lovely, kind, respectful, helpful. The bad points are it's sometimes hard to get answers to questions, and things done. Food is very poor in my opinion, often they give Mum things she doesn't like and don't seem to offer alternatives, it should be more patient led. Laundry very often goes missing or is very harsh on clothes. There don't seem to be many activities organised daily. The place is always spotless. Also, staff change often and don't wear name badges.
On the whole, I am very happy with the care my husband is receiving. Staff are very pleasant. My husband is not too happy with some of his food, cold chips and watery soup.
I have no complaints about the staff. They are so friendly and helpful. Recently I have seen that there is no apparent activities for the residents. But all said and done, my mother is well looked after.
After an awful month-long spell in hospital in April I thought mum wasn’t going to get back to Woodgreen due to hospital red tape and change in care needs. Only when I started looking at other homes (which were sub-par to say the least) did it make me truly appreciate how amazing Woodgreen is? Yes, the home is modern, clean, lovely setting etc. However, it’s the staff that make it 10/10. I really can’t fault any of them. Always friendly and relaxed and mum is well cared for.
Mum arrived early December 2022, it is a home from home. Excellent care and facilities. The staff are brilliant, caring and good fun with both residents an visitors. No one wants their parents in the care environment but this home is the best by far. Well done to you all.
Wood Green Care Home provides good quality care for my cousin who has dementia. The staff are caring, considerate and provide a kind, positive living environment, meeting my cousin's individual needs and managing her resistive behaviours. There are a wide variety of activities available for all the residents like art, music, gardening and pool. My cousin enjoys sitting in the garden and the staff often accompany her for a walk. Wood Green is a bright, cheerful care home with large individual en-suite rooms. It is a clean, safe, caring home environment for my cousin to live in.
Fantastic staff, very clean and tidy. Always go that extra bit to help everyone. They truly look after residents and visitors to the highest standards possible. Would recommend Wood Green to everyone.
The care home is spotless at all times. The staff (one staff member on reception) are all very helpful. My mum loves all the staff. All staff keep my mum dressed well. Mum was in another home two years ago, she fell twice a month. In Wood Green Home my mum has fallen once in two years.
