Oriontree Alpacas

Oriontree offers a fantastic alternative therapy for care homes across the UK by allowing residents to interact with alpacas.

They will travel to – almost – any location with their alpacas to provide the residents and staff alike with an experience they will be talking about for days.

Visits can take one of two formats:

•        A full or half-day event, with the alpacas penned outside for all to view, meet, stroke and hand-feed. This is best for open-days or in the summer. Residents get to meet the alpacas in their own time and can just enjoy watching them mooch about.

•        An indoor visit, lasting approximately an hour. Book as many alpacas as you like and each will come with his own handler.

The alpacas can go in lifts, visit bedrooms… and make sure no-one misses out on the experience. Residents get right up close to them – if they’re lucky they may get a kiss from Anakin – can cuddle, stroke and feed them sliced carrot.

Not every resident is able to take full advantage of all the therapeutic benefits of an alpaca visit, but the staff at Oriontree like to ensure everyone can take part in their own way. They also bring fleece, wool and a scarf for residents to touch and feel, and make the experience as sensory-based as possible.

Alpacas are therapeutic; there can be no doubt about that! Oriontree alpacas are 'therapacas'.
